My son only has ADHD, and is pretty verbal and communicative, however, he misses a lot in his environment and his communication isn't effective. This book was recommended by the ADHD Dude (check him out on YouTube) as a way to get my son to think more about what he's doing, to participate in his environment and to provide a foundation for better communication. Highly recommend this book for all caregivers of ADHD and autistic kids!

Pathological mind games. Covert and overt put-downs. Triangulation. Gaslighting. Projection. These are the manipulative tactics survivors of malignant narcissists are unfortunately all too familiar with. As victims of silent crimes where the perpetrators are rarely held accountable, survivors of narcissistic abuse have lived in a war zone of epic proportions, enduring an abuse cycle of love-bombing and devaluation - psychological violence on steroids.

Highlighting the fascinating link between a child’s neurological development and the way a parent reacts to misbehavior, No-Drama Discipline provides an effective, compassionate road map for dealing with tantrums, tensions, and tears - without causing a scene. Defining the true meaning of the “d” word (to instruct, not to shout or reprimand), the authors explain how to reach your child, redirect emotions, and turn a meltdown into an opportunity for growth.

Good alternative method

Very good book, I took down a number of pages of notes as I plan to and have already begun implementing this method. I feel like this is a good way to let your child know that you hear them and that they matter. too many parents emotionally starve their children, even without knowing it. That's why so many young people are troubled these days. This book is a huge wake up call to anyone who doesn't think their kids emotions are important. Its already made a difference in my kids in the first week. when they know they matter, they don't act out to get attn.
