Fantastic voice that keeps you captivated throughout. I do think some parts read like a resume of I did this, that, this which sometimes made it harder to get through. The parts where he leans into his personality and you get that look behind the curtain is what makes this so special. The end literally brought me to unexpected tears. Growing up in NYC and having lived and lost close family during 9/11 it was emotionally captivating to go step by step through the process of eliminating the terrorist. Thank you again for that one Mr. president.

Felt all over the place. Great story here but the way it is presented is underwhelming and reads like someone trying to figure out the ending whilst telling the story.

Story
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Jeanette’s words pierce the deepest parts of my soul. You feel the pain and the real life person coming through every line. Short and impactful. The imagery throughout feels like I was standing in a room watching everything in her life unfold. While her circumstances throughout are scary I think ultimately they will do good in flipping young minds that are going through similar situations.
5 stars but needs to be heard in Jeanette’s voice. POWERFUL!

Story
Tom Segura is known for his twisted takes and irreverent comedic voice. But after a few years of crazy tours and churning out podcasts weekly, all while parenting two young children, he desperately needs a second to himself. It’s not that he hates his friends and family — he’s not a monster — he’s just beat, which is why his son’s (ruthless) first full sentence, “I’d like to play alone, please,” has since become his mantra.

Story
Lenny McLean was one of the deadliest bareknuckle fighters Britain has ever seen. He had dear, powerful friends, but he also had terrible enemies. So much so that he had two bullet wounds in his back - each from a different attack. He was also stabbed repeatedly - always from behind. But Lenny was also a warm, big-hearted grizzly bear of a man, whose main weakness was an overwhelming desire to put the welfare of his mates ahead of his own wellbeing.

Story
In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house, but the property - complete with boathouse and swimming pool - and the price were too good to pass up. This is the shocking true story of an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining for the Lutz family, who were forced to flee their new home in terror.

“Will” I ever listen to a better story?!?
Reviewed: 11-23-21
Let me begin by saying I have always been a huge Fan of will smith and have followed and enjoyed pretty much everything he has delivered professionally throughout his career. Fresh prince is a gut punch of nostalgia and even today I’ll have it on in the background as I get through chores while “I am legend” it, repeating Wills lines of the show. No actor gets me quite as captivated into a film and can bring me to tears or ready for war. This was different… this is not a book about the hero I grew up idolizing, this is a book about the MAN behind some of the greatest stories ever told. This should be required reading for all. This is quite literally the best thing I have ever read/ listened to. This man’s life will undoubtedly be portrayed one day in a film with some poor S.O.B trying to deliver what will be an Oscar award winning film. It is outrageous what he has gone through, his life reads as something out of a Quentin Tarantino film where they make some over the top storylines that meet at the end but it’s all a true story!! My only recommendation would be to listen to the audible version. There is a level of escapism hearing him that cannot be duplicated. It’s sincere and you hear it as it’s supposed to be presented. You feel the pain, excitement humor and horror in his tone. I always appreciated him for his body of work but now I can honestly say I love the MAN as well.
