Story
You meet the most interesting men in medieval prisons. This one time, I met a guy who offered me immortality for the low, low price of changing my diet. I didn’t read the fine print. Because, he wasn’t talking about a gluten-free diet. More like hemoglobin-full. And now, I’m a friggin’ vampire with five centuries of pop culture references.

Okay. Lets get the obvious out of the way. Luke Daniels kills it. Unless you have somehow never heard his narration you probably already knew he would. Also, the sun is hot, the earth is round and this book is great.
This isn't a groundbreaking novel that pushes the limits of literature as we know it, This is an Urban Fantasy novel that has some new ideas, great action and great humor. Does it rely on some common tropes? Yes. Does it come off as stale or unoriginal? No. This is Urban Fantasy/Humor. While there are plenty that try to fall in that genre Hunter does it well. Especially the hardest part. Humor.
I don't write a lot of reviews and wont rehash the summary that is already provided, Instead I'll simply tell you what the story is similar to. Again, the similarities are in the tone and humor, and not just a retelling of the same old story,
First that comes to mind is the Quincy Harker series. John and Quincy are both foul mouthed, self confident antiheroes, with razor sharp wit.
If you enjoyed any of the following you really need to give this series a listen. Its not only worth a credit its worth the purchase price,
Colin McCool
Shade of Devil
Darkling Mage
Valkyrie Collections
The Shadow Master
Demon-Hearted
Black Knight Chronicles
Hex Series
and of course... Harry (You know which one)
Seriously. I listen to a lot of Audiobooks. All genres. The one thing I really want in a book is humor. This one has many laugh out loud moments, I wont call the humor juvenile, but it is "guy" humor if you follow the meaning. Give it a try. You wont be sorry.

Fast forward several hundred years where John finds himself with an unlikely ally, Father Thomes Philseep. Together, they have the holy mission of doing God’s will by protecting this plane from the nefarious evil that seeks the end of times. After centuries of feeding on mortal blood, if John’s blackened soul can get a little bleaching at the same time, well, all the better.

Story
In the beginning, John was given the choice to avenge his family or die alongside them. He made his decision and has been seeking redemption ever since. Is it possible for a vampire, who has done unspeakable deeds, to change his inherent nature enough to go to Heaven once he takes the big sleep? As if by divine intervention, our witty anti-hero stumbles across his potential salvation in the form of Father Thomes Philseep. Only problem is the holy man has been battling evil entities, like John, his entire life.

As this is a prequel I'll keep it simple. This book not only sets up the internal struggle John has with good and evil, but also the external struggle, While it isn't necessary to listen to this before I Hope You Die it does set the stage.
For a more in depth review please see my review on the first book in the series. I will say that if you are looking for a great story with humorous antihero as the lead look no further,

Outstanding book and narration. One of the best I've listened to in quite sometime, and I listen everyday. sometimes 2-3 books finished per week. I never leave reviews. No time. In this case I made an exception. The book is worth a credit, a discounted price, the full price, or a goat. Whatever you consider the most valuable. I paid for the book. I'm not obligated to review. I took the time. Take that for what it is. Bravo to the Author and Narrator.

R.C. Bray! What an amazing performance.
Don't bother listening to the whole book. It's about stuff or something. All I know is Bray's performance is nothing short of Autobiographical. Just listen to him.
My bad satire for your good satire.

This book deserves 5 stars. If for no other reason then because the author makes the narrator admit he has a penguin penis.
M.K. Gibson, or whomever it is, does a fantastic job. A solid three stars. ;-)
Kafer knocks it it is the park as usual.
Next in the series please. ASAP.
