Story
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

The concept of EMPs and man kinds dependency on technology fascinates me and I absolutely loved this book!!!!!! The story was amazing and the characters were well developed and I have to admit that I wept right along with the family because their pain was so real and probable. This is a must read book for anyone who enjoys a book that once you start reading you can't stop!!!!!!! I am now desperately searching for more books on EMP attacks and a world without technology!!!!!!! Brilliant!!!!!!

Story
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.
