About this listen

First the asteroid would come, slamming into the earth just north of the Montana border, followed by earthquakes, tsunamis, and unending night. And after that... Hell.

Astronomer Marty Chittenden is the first to recognize the approaching doom - a discovery that makes him a marked man.

Green Beret Jack Forrest knows the catastrophe is inevitable and begins stockpiling an abandoned missile silo with supplies while gathering together a small community of men, women, and children he prays can survive the apocalypse.

Then disaster strikes. In an instant the world they know ends forever, transformed into a nightmare realm of eternal darkness. Soon the few remaining humans are transformed as well, becoming savage things - raping, pillaging, and devouring their own.

And the time is approaching when Forrest and his people will have to leave their underground "Noah's Ark" to face a shattered world and the unspeakable terrors that dwell there - in desperate pursuit of one slim hope of survival … called Hawaii.

What an adventure!

I loved the story! What a great adventure! A few to many F bombs for my taste but my mother raised a prude when it comes to that word. That was my only complaint. It kept me busy cleaning and doing projects for hours just so I had an excuse to listen.

Not Bad......

Slim on character development. Despite the title, not a lotta cannibal action.
Reminded me of a fan fiction side story to Lucifers Hammer

Another "Do it now, press select!"

Would you listen to Cannibal Reign again? Why?

Yes, I'm listening to an Academy Award winning apocalyptic based movie script. Excellent story line, outstanding characters, vivid narration (individual characters are a little lacking), and no unesseary filler.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely. Very few selections compelled me to live with at least one piece of my headphone in and on.

Have you listened to any of Brian Hutchison’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not; I will!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Easily.

A book you wish would never end

A great plot, characters and narrator. Wish I never listened to it so I can listen to it all over again! Definitely worth buying. Is there a sequel? The main and supporting characters were very well developed and likable. Actually laughed out loud on some of the witty conversations and one liners throughout this book. As the title and summary warns, this is not a humorous book, so it was unexpected how real and funny certain characters were. If you like Joe Ledger series, you'll love this book as well.

Good book different take survival apocalypse

I wish this would have had more development in the story line after the asteroid strike. the first part of the book covers everything pretty well.

One of the best apocalypse books

This is a great story. Well written, suspenseful, logical, and when it's over, you're hoping there will be a sequel. There are many different interesting elements in the story that always keep your interest. The characters are interesting and the situations they are involved in are reasonable and not far-fetched. Highly recommended.

This is a good formulaic novel

Lots of apocalypse novels follow the formula this one does it well
I have to say that the narrative is extremely rape happy
I get that people would eat people but ,this book puts sex On an equal footing with survival and in doing so it lost me, the moriarty character was glaringly lifted from the postman , but other than that this book is exactly what the title suggests good clean fun

Not a zombie story! This is so much better!

I feel the title of the story may have some think this is another zombie story but it is not! This the best post apocalyptic story I ever listened to. It is very possible and real. Story and narration are excellent. I wish this was a series novel as I was wanting more. Great job! Very pleased customer.

Don’t judge by the cover.

Really enjoyed this book. The cover totally lowered my expectations for what ended up being a creative and interesting story with good narration.

Pretty good with some glaring faults

I had high hopes for this book based on the reviews. It’s a decent apocalypse story without zombies, but it has its slow moments, and worse, some ridiculous choices made by characters who’d know better. For example (without spoilers), in chapter 50, there’s no logical reason for the silo inhabitants to waste their secret weapon on one guy and tip off the enemy. It made no sense. Why wouldn’t they wait until the tunnel was full of soldiers to strike? Because then the crisis would be over! It’s hard to suspend disbelief for silliness like that. What really saves the book is the narration—it’s excellent and makes the purchase worthwhile.
