Story
The history of the United States displays an uncanny pattern: At moments of crisis, when the odds against success seem overwhelming and disaster looks imminent, fate intervenes to provide deliverance and progress. Historians may categorize these incidents as happy accidents, callous crimes, or the products of brilliant leadership, but the most notable leaders of the past 400 years have identified this good fortune as something else - a reflection of divine providence.

A Very Enjoyable SPOOKY Series For Young Readers
Reviewed: 10-14-20
I have quite enjoyed the books in this series and I’m anxious for Katherine Arden to publish more. For young readers, these stories are scary but not (in my opinion) overwhelmingly so. In fact, I really like the fact that the books end on a strong and happy note (rather than an ominous note that makes you feel a bit icky). Very likeable characters and superb writing.

I’m quickly becoming a super fan of this series. It took me a little while to get through the first book, but once I did, I immediately wanted to return to the supernatural world created by William Ritter. A delightful read!
I’m equally captivated by Nicola Barber’s narration. I’m very picky when it comes to narrators of fiction and Nicola is among the best! Well done!
