Great Writer Who Evokes Negative Emotions

I genuinely disliked the flaw of Persephone's distrust. I really rolled my eyes at her responses, behavior and doubt shown sometimes--which let's me know that I was invested in the characters and storyline. I kept saying oooh, she is ticking me off with this behavior and I'm going to stop listening. But I never did. Wonderful story. Sooo interested in how she and Hades will deal with Demeter's antics in Book 3. And how she evolves as a character.

I loved the story line, the narrator did an amazing job. Sarah J. Maas did her genre proud. The story of Elena/Selena was a welcome escape from reality. I do not experience Fey or Tyrant Kings when I maneuver through my day to day (lol) so this series offered me a world to peer into and be entertained with no more then the tap of a button. I was permitted to get to know the characters well, their character and their struggles without getting lost in a backstory not appropriately woven into the storyline.

Story
Why do only a few people get to say "I love my job?" It seems unfair that finding fulfillment at work is like winning a lottery; that only a few lucky ones get to feel valued by their organizations, to feel like they belong. Imagine a world where almost everyone wakes up inspired to go to work, feels trusted and valued during the day, then returns home feeling fulfilled. This is not a crazy, idealized notion. Today, in many successful organizations, great leaders are creating environments in which people naturally work together to do remarkable things.

I always called it an engineering mindset that made me want to figure out how. This book helped illustrate that i am in fact a how person. But funny enough i always want to know the why before i began my almost incessant how. This was a great read and it illustrated the whys and the hows superbly.

Really good read. At first i worried that the way the book was written would be a problem for me. But once i understood how the story would be delivered (video entries) it allowed me to program my brain and fall in line with the story. I was hooked from there. I was able to close my eyes and envision Emily tell me a story.

Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

This book was great. I like things that aren't artificial (fake). I love when people know that they are amazing but don't take themselves too seriously. Heck, even doubt themselves it makes them 1000 times better. And I'm enamored when people out live their pain. I always knew some of the best comedians had some of the messiest lives or upbringing. However, I also knew they were extraordinary to have found away to become comfortable enough with their truth to laugh and allow others to laugh at it. Tiffany Haddish allowed you into her world with this book. And even in a book she makes you laugh at things that society would tell you should not amuse you. But if your honest like the author was you will guffaw and tear up and smile all at the same time.
Thanks Tiffany.
