Story
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

This is by far the best book I've listened to this year. So much of her story resonates with my own and many people I know lives. I laughed, I cried and felt completely empowered from the beginning to the end. So many inspirational quotes can be gleaned from this beautifully written and inspiring book. Can't stress enough the importance of books like these! A must read.

In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

As a Chicagoan it's always awesome to listen to a book that highlights our city. Moreover, the "in medias res" style of writing makes this book an exciting read. Since the book is out of sync, you are gradually let in on what is really happening. Love the twists in the book. You wont expect them. I loved this book and could barely put it down. I will def recommend to others! #chitown
