Story
Kit Darling is a maid with a snooping problem. She’s the “invisible girl,” compelled to poke into her wealthy clients’ closely guarded lives. It’s a harmless hobby until Kit sees something she can’t unsee in the home of her brand-new clients: a secret so dark it could destroy the privileged couple expecting their first child. This makes Kit dangerous to the couple. In turn, it makes the couple—who might kill to keep their secret—dangerous to Kit.

Just the exact kind of novel I love.

I hadn'f found a book I really loved for awhile. So this has been so appreciated in every way I search for when I read. A great story with lots of suspense, excellent wrting, and multiple twists. But what pushes it over the top for me is that it have some kind of social justice or life enlightenment that speaks to life and this one has about the best example of that I've ever read. Imagine what a world we could have if men really understood.

I really enjoyed this book. It definitely gets an A+ for originality in my opinion. I also thought alll the characters were very well developed, and all the little details fit into place with the story as a whole. It also raises questions in my mind as to whether real justice won in the end.

Reads like an historical novel

Reads like. an historical novel written as if the author lived it. As an 81 yr old white woman who has known a person like Jacob, I found myself in tears reading the depth of emotions necessary in coming to terms from an abusive past and knowing how you inadvertently passed that legacy on to your children. Well done and should be required reading for every parent regardless of ethnicity.

Inside the mind of an American Male
Reviewed: 11-27-22
It amazes me that this was written by a woman. For me it was like reading an inside view of "Men are from Mars ---".. As a woman who was not at all in touch with her feelings as a child from pure fear and as an adult who slowly but surely learned how feelings influence our actions, it is interesting to see inside the mind of a man who was dominated by his ability and drive to "DO" the right thing but then was rebuked by the women in his life who did not understand him at all. So when he moved thousands of miles away was forced to see and feel his emotions for a person, was like going to a new universe for him.
In that respect it is an incredible read for me, and utter amazement that it was written by a woman.

The free-spirited and remarkable young couple had met and fallen in love the previous summer while working at a world-renowned outdoor program for women. During their final days in the park, they descended the narrow remnants of a trail and pitched their tent in a hidden spot. After the pair didn’t return home as planned, park rangers found a scene of horror at their campsite.

I was in this part of the park in 1997, and I'm glad I didn't know about this story then. I admit to reading many mystery fiction, but knowing some of the slip shod work done by what I thought were professionals Is really disturbing. THE white wash report written from the very beginning sounds just like the initial report from a recent horrible crime close to where I grew up. The FBI is there now, but after reading this I only hope tho have improved.
We really need journalists like this to at least do a part in keeping authorities more honest.
