Story
Mara Sitwell was only 11 when she went missing. Nineteen years later, she’s been found wandering through remote woodland, alone and confused. She says she’s been kept in an underground cell for all these years - but refuses to reveal anything about the man who snatched her. What does she have to hide? And who’s she protecting? Her brother-in-law, Damian, certainly doubts she’s telling the whole truth and fears she might even be a danger to his young children, especially when his wife insists on moving Mara into their home.

This book starts out okay, and I looked forward to seeing how it was going to resolve. But about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from the end it suddenly reconstructs what had happened earlier without explanation. Could have been better if more attention was given to the end to properly close it out. As it is, I would not recommend.

I have been looking at this book for a while, keeping it on my wish list and going back to it now and then. I was worried it would be too much of a war story. Now I’m sorry I waited. It’s a great story with great narration and definitely worth a listen.

Story
"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

Who on earth picked the narrators?
Reviewed: 11-08-16
I RARELY write reviews. but I just had to warn others how Jessica Hecht ruins the stories with her narrations. First time I have ever put a Steven King down unfinished, but I just couldn't take it. Sounds like she is injecting humour in inappropriate places, and makes the characters she plays sound like bubble-headed simpletons. Wish she'd have just read the stories straight. Buy the paperback or ebook. Save your credit for something more worthy.

What an excellent story that actually transports the reader back in time! I was also particularly impressed with the writer's insight into the mind of a nonagenarian. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in all things historical.

Story
Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Wow! An unbelievable read that I could not wait to get back to. I'd be sitting at my desk at work thinking about the story of Jamie and Claire, just waiting for coffee to listen to some more. I can't believe the level of emotions I went through in the course of this book! While I have truly enjoyed a number of novels, this one really caught me by surprise and is if not the best, certainly in the top two of my audible reads!! Well worth a credit!!
