About this listen

He stole her childhood. Now she wants it back.

Mara Sitwell was only 11 when she went missing. Nineteen years later, she’s been found wandering through remote woodland, alone and confused. She says she’s been kept in an underground cell for all these years - but refuses to reveal anything about the man who snatched her. What does she have to hide? And who’s she protecting? Her brother-in-law, Damian, certainly doubts she’s telling the whole truth and fears she might even be a danger to his young children, especially when his wife insists on moving Mara into their home. To save his family, Damian will have to prove what really happened to Mara all those years ago. But the truth is never easy to uncover when it’s been buried so deep....

This could have been a great book, but left lots unanswered. Character development wasn’t great. Overall, worth listening to since it was included, but just a meh for me.

Narration was good.

when the story ended, I realized I did not have answers to a lot of the questions. The character development was very weak.

Unusual story

I enjoyed this story. It has twists and was compelling. I wanted to know what was going to happen next and kept listening continuously. However, I hate to be a mean person but the male narrator’s voice was like fingernails scraping a chalkboard to me. I don’t know if that was his natural voice or if he was trying too hard. If it wasn’t his natural voice I would recommend trying to sound more natural. It seemed like he spoke in an exaggerated manner that was annoyingly drawn out at the end of each sentence.

Great story but terrible narration

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The performers for the book were great! The twist is totally unexpected.

I sped through quite a bit because I was really wanting to hurry it up already. The wife was too damn dominating and the husband was too much of a bi&$? when it came to women. The characters roles didn’t make sense. She didn’t trust the husband she’s spent years with but trusted the sister she no longer knew. Not to mention he went from being a stay at home husband spending all the time raising the kids to her telling him when he could see them and what time to have them home. All woman here folks but I can’t stand a weak ass man.

Weak A&& Man😖😖

I hate to say this but the narrator was so boring I wanted to scream. He drug out the words like a turtle crossing a road. I almost stopped listening after 3 chapters. But then it got interesting and I decided to be a mom and block out his annoying voice.

The story kept you thinking and coming to conclusions.

It was a great book to read. I didn't know what to think. Like, who is the crazy one, the husband or this wife's sister? Initially, I thought the husband was weird, but I found he's obsessed with his wife. When they found his wife's sister after she had been missing since she was 12. he didn't like that his wife wasn't paying attention to him. He wanted her out of the house even when she didn't have anywhere to go, and I mean, she was just found after all these years; this man has no sympathy. Then she started acting weird, so I believe she was dangerous. Then 49-50 was her side and got even more crazy, and I didn't know who to believe. It was sad that the husband was pushed to the edge by the sister, the reporter, and his actions; though he did something terrible once, it doesn't mean he was a lousy father to his children. he genuinely loves both his children and wife. I would have been satisfied if the wife knew everything at the end and made her own decisions because her sister didn't have to falsely accuse him of doing things he didn't do. That would have changed the whole story, lol. Anyways, add this book to your collection.

Makes you question both parties. Kinda hating both Husband and his wife's sister.

I put this down multiple times and walked away. I only finished cause I had to know what happened. Was hard to listen to the family dynamic in this. Listening to what Mara was doing, then Damien whine. It was rough. And in the end, no true answers. Good idea for a book, just not put together well.

It was hard to listen to

It was interesting at first but then it became confusing. I had hope that it would come to a plot twist, and it almost did but it was a weak one. The book was free so no loss but i wouldn’t pay for it.

Weak plot line
