Real and Honest Love for the Game
Reviewed: 11-17-23
What a ride! If you already loved this game you will love Malcolm’s heartfelt story no matter your favorite team. I enjoyed his retelling of many games I remember watching from his perspective and the aspects of life that the public don’t often see. I thoroughly enjoyed this and can’t recommend this enough to friends and family who love the game. Enjoy!

Story
After artist Claire Beaudry Chase is attacked and left for dead in her home on the Connecticut coast, she doesn’t know who she can trust. But her well-connected husband, Griffin—who is running for governor—is her prime suspect. Just before the attack, Claire was preparing for an exhibit of her shadow boxes, one of which clearly accuses Griffin of a violent crime committed 25 years ago.

Predictable, But Not the Worst
Reviewed: 03-04-21
The story started off well and had some potential but then started to drag. What made it worse is that few can relate to a handful of families in Connecticut so rich they have nothing better to do. It’s not the worst story but had much more potential.

I can always count on Lincoln & Child for something creative. It took a bit but this was exciting, a little incredible, but all in all a fun adventure.

Glad to Know the True Story
Reviewed: 05-19-14
Would you try another book from Robert M. Edsel and Bret Witter and/or Jeremy Davidson?
I would try another book.
What other book might you compare The Monuments Men to and why?
If you enjoy Stephen Ambrose books, Monuments Men may be for you.
What does Jeremy Davidson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Davidson's descriptions of the different places throughout Europe are really very good. I've been to many of these sites and areas so it was easy for me to picture them again.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
I actually did see the film Monuments Men. If you want to get it right and know your history behind this important unit and events in military history there is no substitution.
Any additional comments?
Following several different men through their service with the Monuments and Fine Arts and Archives unit is a little difficult and perhaps a bit confusing at first. It's definitely worth a second listen and an important of American cultural history.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
There seemed like such a drawn out build up...the end somewhat fizzled.
Would you recommend The Cuckoo's Calling to your friends? Why or why not?
I'd recommend it-it was fun to read. I love how the characters are so artfully crafted.
Which scene was your favorite?
I loved every scene where Cormoran is depicted as disheveled, a wreck, hungover. One can't help but love him.
Could you see The Cuckoo's Calling being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
-it just wouldn't be quite right
