Story
In Boyfriend Material, Luc and Oliver met, pretended to fall in love, fell in love for real, dealt with heartbreak and disappointment and family and friends...and somehow figured out a way to make it work. Now it seems like everyone around them is getting married, and Luc's feeling the social pressure to propose. But it'll take more than four weddings, a funeral, and a bowl full of special curry to get these two from "I don't know what I'm doing" to "I do". Good thing Oliver is such perfect Husband Material.

Don’t worry about the negative reviews

I’ll admit I’m glad I had some preparation for the ending having a little twist, but it certainly didn’t kill the book for me. Alexis Hall always injects some realism into his characters and this book is no exception. But his signature blend of sex, romance and relatable characters is exactly why we all love him, right?
Also, this narrator is a frickin genius. I had to remind myself that a single person invented all of those voices. Amazing, gifted performance.

Story
Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wisecracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were 18? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.

These four (Bowen, Kennedy, Hamilton, Morgan) need to keep collaborating bc the results of their collective efforts is pure magic. Nuanced, likable characters, well written and viable plot, and the perfect voices for these two characters. I listen to this book whenever I need a pick-me-up or a sense of comfort. Brilliant all around.

Story
When the only other virgin in her group of friends loses it at Keely's own 18th birthday party, she's inspired to take things into her own hands. She wants to have that experience too (well, not exactly like that - but with someone she trusts and actually likes), so she's going to need to find the guy, and fast. Problem is, she's known all the boys in her small high school forever, and it's kinda hard to be into a guy when you watched him eat crayons in kindergarten.

One of the worst YA books I’ve listened to in a while.

Narrator was ok, although she made the characters even more vapid than the author wrote them. I agree with previous reviews- characters were under developed and immature which made them unlikeable. It also took about three hours too long to get to the resolution. I’m in awe of anyone who can write and publish a book so kudos to Cameron Lund for that, but I hope your next attempt has a little more depth.

Story
Ash Winters is barely holding on, near drowning in his own darkness and fear. He lives a gray shadow of a life, sullen and cynical, unable to remember hope or happiness - much less the distant, fading glitterball of love. It has to be a sick joke of the universe that he finds himself hooked up with good-humored Essex boy Darian Taylor, a wannabe model in a sparkly jacket and a fake tan. Darian may not be an intellectual giant, but he's hysterically funny, and he's got the courage to challenge Ash to live again.

Great, hopeful, genuine story, elevated by one of the best narrations I’ve ever heard. I kept imagining how much flatter the experience would have been if I’d read it without the narrator’s voice, because I don’t have the imagination to produce the Essex accent in this audiobook. A delight.

Story
Luc O'Donnell is tangentially - and reluctantly - famous. His rock-star parents split when he was young, and the father he's never met spent the next 20 years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad's making a comeback, Luc's back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything. To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He's a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and someone who has never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. He’s perfect boyfriend material.

Great characters that are far from perfect but learn to be not perfect together. Some say it’s slow but I liked the pace and felt very connected with the characters by the end. Will definitely read more of this author. Narrator was fantastic.

PUL-ease write more books together

How can you possibly do as good a job with the sequel as you did with Him. You two need to write more together, your collaborative writing is genius, and these narrators need to continue to do collaborative projects together as well. The Him/Us series is one of my go to comfort book series. Thank you for creating books that are just as good on the second and third reads as they were on the first.

Will you two please do more collaborative books? I can’t get enough of them. Characters are never one dimensional, always believable and having them written by two different people just works!
Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world, this book and “Us” are two books I reread (re-listen to really) whenever I need a lift.

Story
The author of the best seller Call Me by Your Name revisits its beguiling characters decades after their first meeting. In Find Me, Aciman shows us Elio’s father, Samuel, on a trip from Florence to Rome to visit Elio, who has become a gifted classical pianist. A chance encounter on the train with a beautiful young woman upends Sami’s plans and changes his life forever. Elio soon moves to Paris, where he, too, has a consequential affair, while Oliver, now a New England college professor with a family, finds himself contemplating a return trip across the Atlantic.

Ugh, was so ready to like this
Reviewed: 08-13-21
Would not have been hard to please me. A little bit of Elio and Oliver as they connect and retreat over the years running through the book. More than a few minutes of their story later in life. But this book is like a series of short stories, which mostly have nothing to do with the relationship between Elio and Oliver. To me this book diminished the significance of their relationship rather than elevating/centering it. Makes me sad, because it could have been a rich story about how Oliver chose convention/traditional norms and realized it was not what he wanted, and how Elio matured as an artist and a person. Instead it’s more about their relationships (or fantasies) with other people. I’m choosing to write their later in life story differently in my head. If you liked Call Me By Your Name, take the premise that they reconnect later in life and make your own story up. Will likely be more compelling than this book.
