Story
When Nicole Rayburn adds a historic bookshop to her list of promotional venues, she meets the owner, Deborah Dolan, who’s desperate to discover what happened to her Victorian ancestor. A well-respected playwright, Edgar Hilliard seemingly had it all: professional success, a thriving business, and a loving family, but according to family lore, Edgar walked out one night, never to return, an unfinished manuscript his only legacy to future generations.

I love Irina Shapiro’s books; reading 22 of them all kept me engaged in the story. The narrator’s performance was excellent. I hope there will be a book 7 to this series.

Story
Through the haze of vodka and self-loathing, Hazel Roundtree saw the poor creature lying in a ditch. One brown eye. One blue. Covered in mud and crying from pain, the puppy was desperately trying to free itself from a hopeless situation. She almost kept walking by. She had her own problems, and besides...no one had ever stopped to help her. Hazel had no idea the dog would be her beginning, her second chance, the miracle she never saw coming.

Atticus, A very good bad dog
Reviewed: 07-21-24
This was such a wonderful story of a puppy rescued by a young woman who needed rescuing herself. Hazel had not intended to keep Atticus but she didn’t want to leave him to an unknown fate. Her eventual bond with Atticus helped strengthen her ability to overcome problems and improve her life. The narrator was excellent! I especially liked the voice for Atticus. This was so well written; it deserves more than 5 stars.

I really enjoyed the setting in British India during WWll. Ilfound it interesting that the main character, Iris Walker, was portrayed in 1944 India and after her return in 1985. I would have liked a little longer story

I throughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The two primary characters, Prince Nicholas and Carolyn Brown were well written and the many obstacles they faced had me wanting to listen without stopping. Marian Hussey was wonderful with each character’s distinctive voice, especially Prince Nicholas. Thank you.
