Story
Douglas Murray, #1 international bestselling author and renowned cultural commentator, confronts arguably the most pressing question of our time: Why are Western supporters of Palestine unwittingly aligning with an evil empire? The campus left frames the violent hostilities as white colonialists committing genocide. Yet only a third of Israelis are Ashkenazi Jews of European ancestry. Murray argues that the conflict is not a simple tale of oppressor versus oppressed, but a clash between a thriving multi-racial democracy and a death cult bent on its destruction.

Beautiful context

Douglass Murray has written a book that is very easy to listen to and is full of details woven together in a way to tell a broader picture of the current Middle East situation. I appreciate the way he has framed the world view of Israel as being for life. Israel’s will do almost anything to get captive home. They see every life as being incredibly valuable.

These books called me to a beautiful Africa and a deep bond between friends. Alexander McCall Smith understands human motivations and describes human relations with such joy that I keep listening.

Story
Flourishing people are strong and weak. Two common temptations lure us away from abundant living: withdrawing into safety and grasping for power. True flourishing, says Andy Crouch, travels down an unexpected path - being both strong and weak. We see this unlikely mixture in the best leaders - people who use their authority for the benefit of others while also showing extraordinary willingness to face and embrace suffering.

As I listened to this, I got insights on how I might better function in my workplace. I need to think of leadership in terms of authority and vulnerability. I found the many applications of the core ideas very helpful.
It was an easy and rewarding listen. The narrator was so good that I never thought about him reading- I just enjoyed the ideas.

Once she learns more about Samuel's sad story, Mma Ramotswe feels compelled to step in and help him find his way out of a bad situation.
