Story
Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

Game for a non gamer.
Reviewed: 10-13-23
This book was so much more than a story about gaming. The character development and the narrative technique were amazing. Though mostly told linearly the “interviews“ and the dream sequences were a clever use of storytelling. Recommend by several friends Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow exceeded every expectation!

Story
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

The story was good (but sad) but too long. I feel it could have successfully been told with fewer words. But overall I would recommend.

Story
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Achilles: A contemporary version of his life and the Trojan war.
Reviewed: 10-17-22
This is an interesting take on Achilles, his life, his loves and his role in the Trojan war. I found it fascinating and it made me want to learn more about the ancients. The narrator did an excellent job distinguishing characters with his changing voice. A strong thumbs up.

Although I’ve read many novels about the horrors of the holocaust, this is told from the point of view of a man who could be thought of as a collaborator but I believe his very great humanity and will to survive makes him a hero. And the love story embedded in the telling makes reading about the horrors bearable. I strongly recommend this book. The reader is excellent so it is an excellent listen

When Cora Seaborne's brilliant, domineering husband dies, she steps into her new life as a widow with as much relief as sadness: her marriage was not a happy one. Wed at 19, this woman of exceptional intelligence and curiosity was ill-suited for the role of society wife. Seeking refuge in fresh air and open space in the wake of the funeral, Cora leaves London for a visit to coastal Essex, accompanied by her inquisitive and obsessive 11-year old son, Francis, and the boy's nanny, Martha.

Strange News

An exquisitely written tale of love and hatred, dedication and betrayal, light and dark, myth and realism. The many characters are quirky (to say the least) but so richly developed I feel I can see them in the room. Though not a page turner I’m often anxious to see what happens next. All in all a very satisfying read (listen).
My only slight criticism is sometime the reader’s voice is so soft I need to strain to hear.
