Story
Antonia Adams is the product of a loveless marriage between a beautiful young model and an aristocrat. As a child, she is abandoned in the abyss that yawns between them, blamed by her mother, ignored by her father, and neglected by both. Unprotected and unloved, she learns that the only way to feel safe is to hide from the dangers around her, drawing as little attention as possible to herself, to be "invisible".

first Steele book, never again
Reviewed: 05-14-22
I thought I would give D Steele a try. This is a highly rated book, why not try. I made it through, but the story was not compelling or interesting. The relationships were not engaging and the way the story was told (3rd person) didn't intrigued me at all. The book was very repetitive. That's an Amazon credit I won't get back.

Story
As a doctor, I walk a dangerously delicate balance of being compassionate but not overly invested. The same is true in my personal life - love is a luxury I can’t afford. It isn’t until Dr. Westin Grant breaks down all my walls and offers me a future, I find myself wondering if I’m brave enough to risk my heart. When who I was and who I’ve tried to become collide during my clinical trial, the fate of one patient changes everything.

heroine was not believable
Reviewed: 08-27-21
The premise of the story was a lot to swallow. A Dr, driven by her mother's death, would never make such a catastrophic decision. Combined with flawed descriptions of how clinical studies are run, it was a lot to ignore. The performance was very good and helped me get through the rest.

Narration detracts from great story
Reviewed: 11-27-20
The unusual cadence and inflection of the reader detract from a great story. Stick with it, you will enjoy the story.

Story
Lindsey is a bad girl, and she's determined to stay that way. She's been called a slut enough to know it's true, and she's not ashamed of the fact anymore. She makes it known to every man she comes in contact with that she's available for the taking - the rougher, the better. When she meets Lieutenant Zachary Davis on one of her many trips to the principal's office, she finally finds a man who refuses to treat her like the trash she believes she really is. But can Lindsey change her wayward, dangerous ways and learn to value herself the way the Zach seems to?

Lacked depth
Reviewed: 10-29-20
Lacked depth of characters, little reason to like the main characters, and was ready like a 14 yr old girl. Language I worked thru hoping the story would improve, definitely not worth the time.

SO not what I was expecting, in a bad way
Reviewed: 11-11-19
Very disappointed in this book. I loved the series, but this book was lacking. The main heroine is only briefly in this story. It seems this book was a "tack on" to the series for revenue generation. The story could have been a good byline to a bigger plot, but it isn't and the book is short.
