Piece De Resistance

‘Piece de Resistance’ is the last and best part of a meal. Sandra Byrd’s novel of the same name doesn’t disappoint. As Lexi Stuart returns to her hometown, fulfilling her dream of running a high-end catering bakery, she is quickly splattered with cake batter from an out of control mixer. Lexi is led to examine where she has placed her faith and is left wondering if her dreams are as exquisite as she hoped.
I’m sad to see the series end, but they are a delicious treat each I dive back in.

Story
Lexi Stuart is risking it all. Saying au revoir to the security of home, her job, and her could-be boyfriend, she embarks on a culinary adventure in France to fulfill her dream of becoming a pastry chef. Life in her new quaint French village should be everything she dreamed of, but settling in isn't nearly as easy as she imagined. Her optimism is greeted with both acceptance and resistance in the people and culture around her—soft and crusty at the same time— like the best baguettes.

A delicious continuation of Lexi Stuart’s adventures as she learns more about baking, herself, and God. Lexi has arrived in France to study and work in a bakery.
The story gives a beautiful look into French culture and Lexi’s journey to deepen her relationship with the Lord. She must decide is she will stay in Paris and create a life for herself or head back home to Seattle. I loved Lexi’s courage and desire to do her best and do what is right.
Sophie Amoss captured Lexi well. I can’t wait to follow her decision in the third audiobook.

Story
What do you do when you've got a degree in French and absolutely no job prospects? Of course, you slide into your favorite French bakery for a café crème! When a lighthearted conversation with the manager of the local patisserie turns into a job offer, Lexi Stuart gladly accepts. She indulges in tasty pastries and wins over skeptical coworkers, but the glamour is minimal, and the pay is less than generous.

Every time I pick up Let Them Eat Cake by Sandra Byrd, I am not disappointed. The audiobook is no different. The narrator, Sophie Amoss, is as refreshing as the main character, Lexi Stuart. I love following her journey of getting to know herself and finding her faith along with the peak the world of French baking. Let Them Eat Cake is definitely a comfort book as sweet as mille-feuille.

But when Kat tries to go straight and leave the Life for a normal life, she's promptly kicked out of her new school for stealing the headmaster's car and mounting it on the school fountain.
