Story
He was promised a life of wandering his new home and having adventures, but things got out of hand pretty quickly. He met with kings and gods, fought interdimensional cults, and got in a knife fight with the guy who creates universes. He didn't win. What he'd never done was roam around, having nice, sensible adventures. He hadn't even seen the hometown of his friends, and that had been the first destination on his list.

I love all these books. Less action in this one than the others, but I loved it all the same.

Really fun story. Funny, dark, and serious all at the same time. The MC is a true antihero. Bad dude that does bad stuff but still has some morals. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one.

Jaws is the classic blockbuster thriller that inspired the three-time Academy Award-winning Steven Spielberg movie and made millions of beachgoers afraid to go into the water. Experience the thrill of helpless horror again—or for the first time!

Extremely Disappointed
Reviewed: 05-01-25
I was extremely disappointed with this book. It started out pretty good and felt surprisingly modern, but then it went off the rails.
There's a very unnecessary and lengthy subplot about Brody's wife cheating on him with Hooper. It gets very explicit, and gets very detailed about her rape fantasy, and doesn't stop there. The whole thing was just gross and unnecessary.
There are some other unnecessary subplots as well.
also, the ending is extremely abrupt and anticlimactic. Super disappointing, super surprised with how it ended.
Everything that Steven Spielberg changed for the movie was 100% justified.
The narrator however was excellent. I didn't think about his narration at all while listening to it which is the goal. He was the perfect messenger.

Story
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Fun but extremely predictable
Reviewed: 04-24-25
A fun listen and cool premise, but there were almost zero surprises. Nothing jumped out at me. I actually predicted about 80% of what happened in the last couple hours or so. Also not a fan of Wil Wheaton's narration. He's good and expressive but he doesn't do separate characters voices unless they have an accent. This is the type of book that I'm sure that the people who like it, LOVE it. Again, fun listen, but not my cup of tea overall.

Ray Porter narrates and excellent story!
Reviewed: 04-01-25
Having been a big fan of the main series for a long time now, I was excited to read/listen about the rise of the beloved character, Rhino.
First off, you DO NOT need to have read ANY of the main Hell Divers books to enjoy this one.
From beginning to end, this book absolutely DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Great action from start to end, and amazing character development of not only Rhino, but a lot of other characters that we see in the Hell Divers main series.
Nicholas Sansbury Smith did an awesome job of further establishing the different civilizations throughout the wastes still surviving, and adding depth to them all.
DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS BOOK!
I know that the audiobook is not narrated by RC Bray, but Ray Porter is an excellent top notch narrator, and did an excellent job!
This story is too good to pass up just because Btay is not narrating!
Rhino: The Rise of a Warrior is without a doubt in my top 3 Hell Divers books!
Nick has not lost his touch!

Wasn't a huge fan of this one. It wasn't terrible, but it took me a really long time to get into it. I only started enjoying it when it was a little more than halfway through. I know a good amount of people really like it, so it worth giving it a shot. The second half and endgame were really good though.

In Tokyo, a teenager jumps off a high rise building and fails in taking her own life. All over the world, miracles like these transpire, and people breathe a sigh of relief. But for the next week, some people will begin to suspect a terrible truth. A handful will even search for it. One man will find it. And in seven days, all hell will break loose.

Had some interesting concepts and a good ending. Just kinda felt really drawn out. I've like most of the stuff that I've listened to by Keith C Blackmore, but not a huge fan of this one. This book was labeled as horror/thriller, but definitely is not a horror book.
As for the narrator, he's a little stiff when narrating scenes and thoughts, but when it comes to dialogue he did incredibly well! If he's not already into voice acting for cartoons, he should be.

Failed academic Frank Nichols and his wife, Eudora, have arrived in the sleepy Georgia town of Whitbrow, where Frank hopes to write a history of his family's old estate - the Savoyard Plantation - and the horrors that occurred there. At first, the quaint, rural ways of their new neighbors seem to be everything they wanted. But there is an unspoken dread that the townsfolk have lived with for generations. You can't give a good book 2 stars just because it makes you uncomfortable.
Reviewed: 02-17-25
Like the title says, this book made me very uncomfortable for a few different reasons throughout, but I can't rate it low just for that. It was well written, the narration was VERY good, and the twists were phenomenal. That being said, I found myself a little disgusted at certain points. It's a good read/listen, just proceed with caution. There are several "triggers" that people may not want to go anywhere near.
