About this listen

An action-packed new progression fantasy from the bestselling author of Armor and Deadman Walking.

Locked away. Left to die. He'll master his powers to survive, then thrive.

Betrayed by his former gang and thrown into the Rendhold Underprison, Dantes has spent the last five years scraping by. A bastard of human, orcish, and elvish blood, he's lived on the periphery of the periphery, lying, cheating, and stealing to survive.

After a run of bad luck, he's made a powerful enemy who seeks his head.

But that's where his rise to power begins. Thanks to an unexpected alliance with a fanged friend, the druidic powers locked within him come to life. He has all the tools he needs to turn things around, he just need to master them.

Because you can never underestimate a Street Rat...

Don't miss this progression fantasy series perfect for fans of Dishonored, The Blacktongue Thief, The Lies of Locke Lamora, and Baldur’s Gate!

About the Series: A slow-burn progression fantasy focused on an Anti-hero MC with a code rising through the criminal underworld of a city-state using newfound powers and quick wits. MC's powers will develop slowly, but he will use them in creative ways to get ahead, and in the meantime he'll do whatever it takes.

Great story and world. Pretty cool that for once its a story of a druid without you staple druid animals like bears owls and wolves bht instead using common animals found in cities.

The MC is not a perfect person who always the most optimal decision. But there is still some awesome character growth.

Decent book with an unorthodox MC

Love this book! Dhantes perfectly walked the line between honorable and vicious, and I absolutely loved the use of vermin as a part of his powers. The reason why he works is because he has a code, and also, he has really strong motivations for everything he does. You want him to win. This book is well written, and the world building, especially the cultures of all the various races, is really well done. Great read!

I have a feeling this is going to turn into an academy story.
Cliffhanger aside, this was quite good. There were editing. This story seems to be a fantasy version of The Count of Monte Cristo. Inspired by.
I recommend it.

cliff hanger much. Seems inspired by The Count of Monte Cristo

What can I say other than—I loved it.
It’s a fantastic story with a few reminiscent moments and themes that reminded me of The Count of Monte Cristo.
If you’ve read the book or seen any of its many film adaptations, you’ll get what I mean.

I highly recommend this book.
And if you’re a fan of He Who Fights With Monsters, you’ll be happy to know the voice actor, Heath Miller, absolutely knocked it out of the park.

Full stars all around!

picked up this book at the recommendation of its amazing Narrator. I can say it was a great adventure starting point. it's clear the Author put effort into the details and made the story real you in all while also leaving just enough to tickle your imagination and demand more.

I'll be looking for the sequel books

I know there's a few other druid series with more modern stuff, but this was an interesting mix of genres for a druid story.

Not often you see an urban druid series.
