MK Ultra ??
Reviewed: 01-14-25
This "story" has the basic elements of the MK Ultra program but not executed very well in my opinion. It follows the life of a test subject named Starfire, but the chronology is all over the place. If you're looking for a factual accounting of the MK Ultra Projects and its spinoffs, look elsewhere.

Story
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Stephen King pulls another rabbit out of his hat with this one. the Chattahoochee are well developed and loveable and the plot is wonderfully imaginative. I would love to see this in a feature length movie. Well done, Mr. King, well done.
