Story
Renowned journalist Don Lemon always had a complicated relationship with God. He cherished the Southern Black church he was raised in, but struggled with the fundamentalist rejection of his right to exist as a gay man—one who wanted to marry his longtime love in a church wedding with all the traditional trimmings. In his work as a reporter, moreover, he saw his fellow Americans losing faith in a higher power, in institutions, and in each other.

I really miss seeing Don every day even though I don't watch CNN anymore. I agree with every thing Don said I especially loved the part about the flag, I noticed they were doing the same at the DNC it's nice to see that we're taking our flag back. I'm also glad to hear Don is happy and finally got married. Loved the Book

Story
Small acts of courage matter. Sometimes, they change the world. Our history books are filled with the stories of those who fought for democracy and freedom—for idealism itself—against all odds, from Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela to Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. These iconic struggles for social change illustrate the importance of engagement and activism, and offer a template for the battles we are fighting today. But using the right words is often easier than taking action; action can be hard, and costly.

These are huge of courage. This Book was nothing like I expected. I wished I had grown up a Velshi and I wish I were Canadian. This book made me so ashamed of how we treat our migrants. And divicult we make citizenship for them. And this is just the beginning it is very moving.

Story
Myrlie Louise Beasley met Medgar Evers on her first day of college. They fell in love at first sight, married just one year later, and Myrlie left school to focus on their growing family. Medgar became the field secretary for the Mississippi branch of the NAACP, charged with beating back the most intractable and violent resistance to black voting rights in the country. Myrlie served as Medgar’s secretary and confidant, working hand in hand with him as they struggled against public accommodations and school segregation, lynching, violence, and sheer despair within their state’s “black belt.”

The Real Mississippi
Reviewed: 06-09-24
As a young white child in Mississippi I was always told lies. iI didn't know it at the time but a lot of really awful things were said in my house which confused me about the teaching I was learning at church. As an adult I have sought out the truth. Megar Evers was a name I had heard a lot so this book was a must read for me. I thought I knew the truth but wow learning the truth from Myrle herself there's no substitute and what a hero her husband was. The story is full of both love and Meger was a caring father and loving husband who couldn't stop what he felt like his calling was to Mississippi a better place. One of the best things was to listen to by my MSNBC host Joy Reid.

Story
When Michael Cohen's secret payoff to porn star Stormy Daniels on behalf of Donald Trump made Cohen look like a liability to the by-then-president of the United States, the end to their decade-long relationship came swiftly—with a knock on the door from the FBI. Soon, Cohen would find himself imprisoned—even though he had plenty of evidence to show he was innocent of most of the charges.

This was the scariest book I've read since 1984

I have liked Michael Cohen for a long time and have seen many interviews so I felt like he would do well in the hush money trial and I was right. This made me curious as to the whole story. Wow truth is really scary than fiction. Everyone planning to vote in November needs to read this book.

Story
On the morning of August 12, 2022, Salman Rushdie was standing onstage at the Chautauqua Institution, preparing to give a lecture on the importance of keeping writers safe from harm, when a man in black—black clothes, black mask—rushed down the aisle toward him, wielding a knife. His first thought: So it’s you. Here you are. What followed was a horrific act of violence that shook the literary world and beyond.
