It was as if the author knew me. I have successfully used some of the suggestions in the book. Encouraging.

This was almost like two stories in one. I enjoyed the perspective about the earthquake from someone who was there. I also love inspirational stories. This book had both.

It was an OK read, but the very simplified style of the author felt like I was reading a children’s book.

The story was enjoyable, but I had to fast forward through a few of the author’s rants. Overall, I liked the author and loved his hiking companion. I would recommend this book.

I love self-narrative stories about thru hikes. I want so badly to like this author, especially after all she’s accomplished. However, her stories are so centered solely around herself and her accomplishments, it is hard for me to read. Most of the narratives I read have colorful stories about events and other hikers along the trail to self-discovery. This story is just about how she tells herself she fails everything and then how she doesn’t. Rinse and repeat. I pushed through Thirst, but could not push myself through this one.

This story is a little bit darker than most of the author’s other books and involves a few witchcraft ceremonies. It seemed like some of the details were unnecessary. The story is okay and holds the reader’s attention. However, the narrator makes most of the characters sound snobby or angry almost constantly, which drove me crazy.
