Good book
Reviewed: 01-01-18
I didn't realize that this book was a compilation of sermons rather than an actual book. It wasn't a bad thing, I was just thrown off a little. However, the sermons were very good tackling Spiritual Warfare, a topic that many pastors I've known have brushed over. Skip referenced the Bible to give you a history and solutions if you are ever in a situation where you need them.
The one thing I didn't like was how Skip would throw out insults to 'Liberals'. I'm not sure how political stance has anything to do with religion & spiritual warfare. Especially since we now have the most Unchristian US President that we have ever had and liberals are the ones standing up to him.

Good story, AMAZING performance

For me , this would have been better if I had read it instead of listening to it. With as many characters as this book has, it took awhile in the beginning to place them all. I think it was a good story line, but murder mysteries might not be mu style. But I'll tell you what was very impressive was the narrator! Dan had a different voice for every character and absolutely brought this book to life.

Dan is meditation's spokesperson

I wasn'treally sure what I was getting into with this book and I actually didn't put together who Dan was until I got into it. This is an awesome story of one person's journey through spirituality to their final destination of meditation. Dan's a great storyteller. I trailed off at one point, but realized that the times I trailed off were the times that Dan seemed to be trailing off as well into unfullfilling spiritual quests. In the end, if you're a stressed out person like me with a lot on their shoulders, this book is going to make you want to take up meditation.

Story
Al Franken, Giant of the Senate is a book about an unlikely campaign that had an even more improbable ending: the closest outcome in history and an unprecedented eight-month recount saga, which is pretty funny in retrospect. It's a book about what happens when the nation's foremost progressive satirist gets a chance to serve in the United States Senate and, defying the low expectations of the pundit class, actually turns out to be good at it.

The Voice of Reason in a Trump Presidency
Reviewed: 06-11-17
There has never been a better time for an SNL writer to be in the Senate, let alone one of the greatest SNL writers of all time. I'll admit that I lost track of Al after he left SNL, and quite honestly SNL lost me for a long time when he left. But, while being scared s#!tless of the fact that a sexist, racist con man was taking office, I suddenly saw one face that gave me hope on the Senate floor... Al Frankin. This book is the fantastic story of how the comedic mastermind worked his way into politics by convincing the state of Minnesota to take him seriously while holding back on some awesome satirical opportunities, to standing up to the lunacy and falsehoods that are swarming Washington today. Al Frankin, his humility, intelligence, and hope for the future are exactly what is needed to truly make America great and reading this book will make you proud that we still have voices of reason, and comedy, in high power.

Joel is the Gateway Drug to Christianity
Reviewed: 02-04-17
I always joke that Joel Osteen is the gateway drug to Christianity and this book is the perfect example why. This book is a very motivational book with light biblical references. Joel has a way of bringing stories from the Bible and relating them to today's world to inspire every individual in a nonjudgmental way. He also adds in an aspect of ' motivational speaker' into everything he does, this book included. This book is like 19 of his sermons all in a row and I'm sure anyone could benefit from that.

As more of the world's population accepts the possibility of an extraterrestrial presence, the demand is building for disclosure from the United States.

This book was a very good concept with great research taking you through each Presidents involvement with UFOs. Explanations jumped around a bit from time to time which was a little confusing. There are also some documents that you can look at which are hard with an audio book. But in all, it was very fun aspect of our country outlined.

Russ Harris offers a surprising solution to low self-confidence, shyness, and insecurity: Rather than trying to "get over" our fears, he says, the secret is to form a new and wiser relationship with them. Paradoxically, it's only when we stop struggling against our fearfulness that we begin to find lasting freedom from it.

This book has a very realistic approach to dealing with fear/self doubt. Instead of suggesting you change everything about yourself, it shows you that in reality, you should just work with what you have.
