When Lewis Barnavelt, an orphan, comes to stay with his Uncle Jonathan, he expects to meet an ordinary person. But he is wrong. Uncle Jonathan and his next-door neighbor, Mrs. Zimmermann, are both witches! Lewis is thrilled. At first, watching magic is enough. Then Lewis experiments with magic himself and unknowingly resurrects the former owner of the house: a woman named Serenna Izard. It seems that Serenna and her husband built a timepiece into the walls - a clock that could obliterate humankind. And only the Barnavelts can stop it!

I'm excited that thiswas one of the daily suggested books. I'm not sure if I would of purchased it otherwise. This was fun to listen to, it had everything you need in a great book. You had your suspense, mystery, who actually was behind it all and how or if they could overcome the evil magic.
Listen to see what happens at the end it just might surprise you!

Story
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Like all Stephen King books you find yourself loving some characters and disliking others. In this book you have enough time to really learn about them. I have to say I hope that Stephen King does write a sequel to The Stand.
