Story
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Fun book, I’m not a huge fan of “alien invasion” but I was pleasantly surprised at how god it was. Not sure why a lot of comments said the ending was poor, I thought it was solid throughout.

Story
Everyone loves Mathias. Naturally, when he discovers it’s his destiny to save the world, he dives in headfirst, pulling his best friend, Aaslo, along for the ride. However, saving the world isn’t as easy, or exciting, as it sounds in the stories. The going gets rough, and folks start to believe their best chance for survival is to surrender to the forces of evil, which isn’t how the prophecy goes. At all. As the list of allies grows thin and the friends find themselves staring death in the face, they must decide how to become the heroes they were destined to be.

Disappointed

I'm a fan of the Kings Dark TIdings series. They're not perfect but i've enjoyed the series and plan to continue it. This book; however, was a huge disappointment. I'm super confused at the high ratings. This book took off like a shot. No build up, no character development, no world building. Best friends, savior of the world, lopped off head becomes a talking jester, gods of fertility???? This book appears to have been thrown together as quickly as possible to take advantage of the success with kings dark tidings. It was 12 hrs and may have been a good book if it were 25 hrs. we'll never know.

Excessive introspection
Reviewed: 10-04-19
The internal dialogue of the 2 main characters is overly excessive. They question their thoughts and actions over and over. “I can travel with her, no I must not, but perhaps I can, but I shouldn’t”. This type of internal dialogue happens constantly throughout the book. It’s a good story, just told very poorly.

Fun adventure for Star Wars fans
Reviewed: 09-30-19
Well written and RC Bray does a great job narrating. I’m not a huge Star Wars fan, especially the newer ones as they have just repeated the older ones. This was a new variation on the same old Stuff. The ending was especially frustrating as it appears the “force” is back in play. If you’re a Star Wars geek, you will love it.

Yet whispers have come from across the sea - rumours of an army called the Steel Horde, led by a man who believes himself a god.

Not Blood song
Reviewed: 08-04-19
Blood song was the pinnacle. This was a decent story and continuation but was confusing. The confusion enhanced by Steven Brand. He has a good voice, but his reluctance to change tone or develop character voices is why he will always make books get lower ratings. He is not in the same ballpark as Pacey, Kramer, phodel, Vance, etc. until this author realizes that, his books won’t achieve audible excellence.

I have tried a few times now to like the zombie / end of the world books, but I truly just can't get in to it or enjoy it. I did finish this 3 part book and I think it is fairly well written. If zombies and military are your thing, you will probably enjoy this book. I enjoy Bronson Pinchot as a reader. Bronson's best work, in my opinion, is the Grimnoire Chronicles, really well done.
