Story
Felicia, a single mother and lawyer by day, volunteers at a local crisis center to give back to her tightknit community in a small Wisconsin town. One night, she answers a horrifying call: through tears, a frantic teenage girl tells her that she was a victim of sexual assault at a local house party. Felicia is shocked, and breaking protocol, she begins communicating with the girl on her own, determined to keep her safe and hold her assailants accountable. But as she gets closer and closer to the truth, she can’t shake the feeling that she and the girl are connected by more than the phone call.

Love Hate Relationship
Reviewed: 04-24-24
I loved this story, but I also hated it. As the mother of three boys, this story and its aftermath really got under my skin. As a ‘good’ parent , I cannot imagine having to make this choice and living with it. This story was scary to me in the way that monsters are scary to others. What do you do when the monster is your own? Thought provoking!

This is much lighter than typical Koontz, but it’s a great adventure with lots of humor. You won’t regret listening to this story, the narrator is terrific and the story is fun and easy to get into.

Story
No one knows exactly when it began or where it originated. A terrifying new plague is spreading like wildfire across the country, striking cities one by one: Boston, Detroit, Seattle. The doctors call it Draco Incendia Trychophyton. To everyone else it's Dragonscale, a highly contagious, deadly spore that marks its hosts with beautiful black and gold marks across their bodies - before causing them to burst into flames. Millions are infected; blazes erupt everywhere. There is no antidote. No one is safe.

This book was . . . Amazing! The dragon scale was not the scary part of this book, but the sheer acts of humanity in the face of it. Thought provoking, thrilling, sad, hopeful. I love Joe's work, it moves you.

#Lena Dunham is AWESOME

I'm 39, so I'm not a young hipster anymore, but I love the Girls series, and I love Lena. Lena is Lena and that's what I loved about this book, it's sharp, witty, and real. She has helped me to be more excepting of myself and all my crazy weird thoughts and self doubts. She's not afraid to be who she is, and that is so refreshing in a world full of everyone trying to be somebody else.

Beneath layers of volcanic ash lies the Villa della Notte, home to first-century nobles, as well as to the captivating slave girl at the heart of an ancient controversy. And secreted in a subterranean labyrinth rests a cache of antique documents believed lost to the ages: a prize too tantalizing for classics professor Sophie Chase to resist.
