Story
Winter blankets the land, and more than just hope has died. Prevented from invading the Fhrey homeland by the tower of Avempartha, the western army seeks a way across the Nidwalden River before the fane obtains the secret of dragons. As time runs out for both humanity and the mystic Suri, the only chance for the living rests with the dead. Having made their fateful choice, can a handful of misfits do the impossible, or are they forever lost to an inescapable grave? Do gods truly exist? Is it possible to know the future? And what lies beyond the veil of death?

Disappointing

Struggled to get through this book. Was an avid fan from the beginning and waited patiently for this ones release only to go months before finishing it. I had preordered the next and final book and now its in my library I read readers comments for it, not sure if I will end this here and just ask for a refund, or plow my way thru the final book

Story
After the War of the Gods, the demons were cast out and fell to the world. Mankind was nearly eradicated by the seemingly unstoppable beasts until the gods sent the great hero, Ramrowan, to save them. He united the tribes, gave them magic, and drove the demons into the sea. Ever since, the land has belonged to man, and the oceans have remained an uncrossable hell, leaving the continent of Lok isolated.

I was a bit reluctant to purchase this one but glad I did, only problem is it leads to a second book and for whatever reason, doesn't seem to have a Book 2 and leaves one hanging as to what happens to all the characters

Bob Johansson didn't believe in an afterlife, so waking up after being killed in a car accident was a shock. To add to the surprise, he is now a sentient computer and the controlling intelligence for a Von Neumann probe. Bob and his copies have been spreading out from Earth for 40 years now, looking for habitable planets. But that's the only part of the plan that's still in one piece.

If you have not started reading the series, do not start with this as you will be totally lost.
As the book was wrapping up and coming to a close, several of my favorite characters were eliminated and without a resolution, then I learn a fourth book is being released early next year.
Would be nice to keep these stories in series of three.

In 2204, humanity is expanding into the wider galaxy in leaps and bounds. Cutting-edge technology of linked jump gates has rendered most forms of transportation - including starships - virtually obsolete. Every place on Earth, every distant planet humankind has settled, is now a step away from any other. And all seems wonderful - until a crashed alien spaceship of unknown origin is found on a newly located world 89 light-years from Earth, carrying a cargo as strange as it is horrifying. To assess the potential of the threat a high-powered team is dispatched to investigate. But one of them may not be all they seem....

Story
Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but longstanding enmities dividing the Rhune make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods? The answer lies across the sea in a faraway land populated by a reclusive and dour race who feel nothing but disdain for both Fhrey and mankind.

Now the thrilling saga continues as the human uprising is threatened by powerful enemies from without—and bitter rivalries from within. Story
The end has come. The army of the silent ones is sweeping across the land, annihilating towns and cities, slaughtering all they encounter. In a desperate bid to save the lives of uncounted innocents, the allied forces of elf, dwarf, and human must face these savage and seemingly unstoppable warriors. But the silent ones are unlike any enemy the people of Lumnia have faced before - corrupted and made enormously strong by the vile magic of Shinzan. They do not care who is friend or who is foe.

Ends the Story but Could have Done so in Book Four
Reviewed: 06-19-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Should never had gone to a fifth book The extra fillers could have been removed along with the extra back stories and recaps by consolidating all of it into Book Four which should have ended the series.
What about Derek Perkins’s performance did you like?
Did a great job, most likely the only reason I stuck with the series
Was Dragonvein, Book Five worth the listening time?
Still left a lot unanswered in wrapping the series
Any additional comments?
Should have kept this to a 3-4 book series. No reason to have stretched it out to five

Story
"Find the Elves and return them to the world of Men!" the shade of the Druid Allanon had ordered Wren. It was clearly an impossible task. The Elves had been gone from the Westland for more than a hundred years. There was not even a trace of their former city of Arborlon left to mark their passing. No one in the Esterland knew of them - except, finally, the Addershag.

Must read before moving on to Final book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, In keeping with the series the writer devoted majority of this book solely to the Elves while touching on current adventures of the other characters on their quest. Would be a mistake not to read this book prior to finishing the series
Which character – as performed by John Lee – was your favorite?
Had several favorites in this book as well as disappointment in some of the characters themselves. I do not want to spoil the story by addressing them here as it would give away the adventure of discovering them for yourself
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, except you do feel the frustration for what the elves were experiencing
Any additional comments?
Enjoyed the complete series

Story
The Shadowmen still swarm over the Four Lands, poisoning everything with their dark magic. And their leader is determined to destroy all the Scions of Shannara. For Walker Boh, he dispatches the Four Horsemen. For Wren, he sends an untrue friend. And for Par, he devises the most terrible fate of all. With these traps cleverly laid, the charges given by the shade of the Druid Allanon are doomed to failure - unless Par can discover a way to harness the power of the Sword of Shannara.

Yes
Who was your favorite character and why?
Elf Queen was my favorite as she showed strength but the book failed at giving her a happier ending then it could have
What does John Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
As all good narration, he gives depth and understanding to the charterers
Any additional comments?
Lot of filler in the series that was plain boring in the description of scenery and the series could have been much more enjoyable without it and easily combined into three books
