Story
The quiet 1960s midwestern life of the Land family is upended when son Davy kills two marauders who have come to harm the family. The morning of his sentencing, Davy (a hero to some, a cold-blooded murderer to others) escapes from his cell, and the Lands set out in search of him. Their journey is touched by serendipity and the kindness of strangers, and they cover territory even more extraordinary than the Badlands, where they search for Davy from their Airstream trailer.

Well written, well read!

I really enjoyed this book! It has such details though it were too real to be a fictional account. I did feel it was a bit rushed to conclusion at the end, but I don't know how else it could have been done. The narrator did a fantastic job on the various characters, each having a different tone, manner of speech or talking speed. His voice was pleasant and seemed to be a perfect fit with the character telling the story.

What an enjoyable story! It peaked my curiosity for the events history for this time period. I also loved the personality & character of the Queen... what a good example and a fantastic heroine!
The narrator reads this with impressive skill. She used remarkable accents for various characters, including French, Spanish & English and also did a great job of changing her voice for various male characters.
Highly recommend!
