It just ends
Reviewed: 02-28-25
Loved this book, really great story but after 14 hours of listening for it just ends. Left me frustrated and wanting more… all that and nothing happens in the end. No consequences or revelations.
Also the weird musical interludes were unnecessary and just annoying

Really enjoyed the story and twist at the end. The narrator’s accent could sometimes be irritating but that may be more on me. But by the end I was cringing every time she said “says”

Cute Rom-Com
Reviewed: 09-07-24
I don’t usually go for romantic/comedy type stories but this one was free and I thought I’d give it a try while I waited for my next credit to arrive. It was really good, not too whiny and the drama that was keeping them apart was realistic. I often find that rom-coms conflict is so frivolous and un-relatable. Performance was excellent.

Meh just so so

This story was almost ok but then it just wasn’t. The sex scenes seemed like they were written by someone who never had a personal experience. Not to mention that the entire story was about sex, too much sex, too little sex, incest, just all of it. And I’m not a prude but it just wasn’t done well. The story was hard to believe on so many levels. I listened to the whole book only because I’m not a quitter and it was free but I definitely thought about not finishing several times. Don’t bother with this one

Really enjoyed this one. Narration/performance was spot on. Only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5 on story was that it felt like they put a lot of effort in the beginning but the last two episodes were just far reaching to tie up loose ends. I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong. Give it a listen and see for yourself, still totally worth it.

Story
Sixteen year-old Katya Spivak is out for a walk on the gracious streets of Bayhead Harbor with her two summer babysitting charges when she's approached by silver-haired, elegant Marcus Kidder. At first, his interest in her seems harmless, even pleasant, like his name - a sort of gentle joke. His beautiful home, the children's books that he's written, his classical music, the marvelous art in his study, his lavish presents to her. But by degrees, almost imperceptibly, something changes.

Glorified Child Rapist
Reviewed: 08-30-22
Yes, somehow this story managed to glorify and twist what clearly was the drugging and sexual assault of a 16year old girl by an old man into some weird love story? It’s going to take me some time to get over what I just listened to. There is no reason this story had to go in this direction? The narrator did a good job and it is well written but just don’t bother with this one. I know it’s free but just don’t.

Story
A riveting novel in which old friends must excavate the formative event of their childhood - a murder - and determine how to pit truth against justice. Hutch Van Buren is 15 years old, playing sports and searching for arrowheads in a small industrial town in Ohio with his three closest friends when an altercation between the comrades and Petey Sanchez, a troubled 17-year-old, leads to Petey’s accidental death. Together, Hutch and his friends become ensnared in a web of secrets and moral dilemmas.

Loved the story and narration. Compelling story. There was nothing cliche or obvious about this story and yet it felt real in the way it was told and you really felt just as conflicted as the main character in his choices as to what the right thing to do was.
