About this listen

This book contains strong language, and adult themes that may not be suitable for everyone.

Jenny sits in the same seat on the same train every week, seeing familiar faces come and go.

Until a chance encounter shatters her world.

Sixteen years ago, Jenny survived a traumatic ordeal that left her best friend, Susie, missing and presumed dead. The world has its theories about what happened to Susie Patterson, and one of those theories points the finger at Jenny.

Now she lives a quiet life, volunteering at a crisis helpline while trying to deal with her own anxiety and the true crime fans obsessed with finding her missing friend. Then, on the way to her usual shift, Jenny is certain she sees Susie sitting in coach D.

But will anyone believe her?

Seeing Susie plunges Jenny back into a nightmare of forgotten memories and haunting fears. As the past claws its way into her present, she must unravel the truth about what happened sixteen years ago.

But the deeper she digs, the more she realises that some secrets are better left buried.

OK, but way too long

I’m not sure if this was worth the time to listen. OK story good narrator but if you have a better option, take it.

Too long

It was a good story but about 5 hours too long. The way the narrator pronounced “says” drove me insane, almost stopped listening after 2 hours.

You never realize how often a word is repeated…

…until you hear someone say it wrong. Never in my 40 years of life have I heard anyone pronounce “says” the way this narrator did. And it’s hard to think of a word said by a narrator more frequently than the word “says”. I thought I would get used to it but it irked me all the way through lol Other than the super strange pronunciation, I thought the narration was fantastic. The story was good and kept me interested throughout.

Hard to follow

The story was ok but a bit hard to follow. Kind of hard to believe as a story. The reader has an english accent which I dont care for and she has a weird way of saying some words.

Well, that got weird

There were so many twists and turns, that by the end of the book the beginning didn’t make a lot of sense.

That was… interesting. Perhaps overly long, but interesting.

Please, Stop Pronouncing "Says" as "Saze"!
