Publisher's summary

This book contains strong language, and adult themes that may not be suitable for everyone.

Jenny sits in the same seat on the same train every week, seeing familiar faces come and go.

Until a chance encounter shatters her world.

Sixteen years ago, Jenny survived a traumatic ordeal that left her best friend, Susie, missing and presumed dead. The world has its theories about what happened to Susie Patterson, and one of those theories points the finger at Jenny.

Now she lives a quiet life, volunteering at a crisis helpline while trying to deal with her own anxiety and the true crime fans obsessed with finding her missing friend. Then, on the way to her usual shift, Jenny is certain she sees Susie sitting in coach D.

But will anyone believe her?

Seeing Susie plunges Jenny back into a nightmare of forgotten memories and haunting fears. As the past claws its way into her present, she must unravel the truth about what happened sixteen years ago.

But the deeper she digs, the more she realises that some secrets are better left buried.

Dragged out the story. Good ending though

Cleaver concept but it took too long to get to the point. Each scene drug on for far too long. In skipped forward many times especially during the first half.

Really Great

I didn’t know what to expect. And it turned out to be surprisingly, really good.

Predictable and way too long.

The performance was stellar but the title and story wasn’t original and quite tedious for me to finish honestly but I finished it lol (twenty years later vibes and the title is too close to the girl on the train) 😢 😑

This will make a good movie!

I really enjoyed the book - it was suspenseful. I think there is a lot they could do to adapt this to the big screen.

unexpected twists

Even when you thought the story was complete, there were more revelations. I did not care for the main character's constant self doubt. It seemed implausible that she would not know her sexual preference until it was revealed to her by someone else.

Took too long

I really enjoyed the narration in the beginning, but as the story progressed, it became irritating. I didn’t want to quit listening until I found out what happened, but I feel that it could have been wrapped up much sooner.

Awesome

The performance and story were awesome! My only complaint is that it took me listening through 3/4ths of the book before I got where the way the narrator pronounces “says” didn’t bug me. She pronounces it with a long A. I prefer and believe it should be pronounced with a short A. I suppose that’s the way it’s pronounced in her country of origin.

I like Jennie

This was a twisty and interesting listen. I didn’t see the direction the story was heading.

Great narrator

I have a very short attention span and have a really hard time making it through Books, but I made it through this one in about three days. It was so so good. I was drawn in by the narrator and her inflection and passion. She has an amazing voice. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time not knowing what the main character was going to do and was absolutely blown away by the end I initially was going to stop listening the last hour or so because I figured I already knew what was going to happen, but then I continued on and was very surprised by the ending. I love that there was no gory violence, horrible swearing or tons of sex don’t get me wrong. I’m not approved and love a good smutty romance just as much as the next woman, but I love that this story was able to keep me in ruptured without a lot of sex.

Different

I appreciated the book because it was different from a lot of the books I listen too.
My single annoyance was the repetitive “she says” “he says”
