Story
November, 1941. She’s never even seen the ocean before, but Eva Cassidy has her reasons for making the crossing to Hawaii, and they run a lot deeper than escaping a harsh Michigan winter. Newly enlisted as an Army Corps nurse, Eva is stunned by the splendor she experiences aboard the steamship SS Lurline; even more so by Lt. Clark Spencer, a man she is drawn to but who clearly has secrets of his own. But Eva’s past - and the future she’s trying to create - means that she’s not free to follow her heart.

A substantial plot - Way more than just a romance with Pearl Harbor as the background.

Was enjoyable listen for my wife and I together while in Hawaii on vacation. Slight improvement would be to add man’s voice for the direct words from male characters. But still a-ok.

Fun story that kept me listening. Was hard to put down. Good narration. Like Dick Hill’s hippy California take on Tomlinson a little better. But this narrator was very good.

Shallow, cartoonish but mildly entertaining
Reviewed: 06-12-17
Cartoonish plot line, very little character development in this very short novella. Improbable dialogue and plot. But still mildly entertaining. Reader is fine. Author not expending too much effort here.

Story
Renowned novelist and screenwriter Mark Frost turns his eye for golf to an event so famous that it’s grown to the stuff of legend. In 1956, a casual bet between two millionaires eventually pitted two of the greatest golfers of the era—Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan—against top amateurs Harvie Ward and Ken Venturi. Frost recounts this dramatic tale from start to finish, detailing the match that vaulted golf out of the shadows and into the national spotlight.

Great look back at the soul of golf!
Reviewed: 06-29-16
I really enjoyed listening to this look back at four legends of the game of golf and the era they came from. I was aware of all of them and was fascinated to be reminded of how the PGA tour really got going and the importance of Amateurs like Harvey Ward and others. Was an inspiration to review the careers and challenges overcome by all four of these legendary but very human figures from this sport. Provides a staggering comparison to where the money has risen too and the sacrifices and perseverance of the pioneers of Golf. Truly religious experience thinking of the magical match at a Cypress Point on the Monterray Peninsula and how well these greats could score with the old clubs and golf balls of that era.
This book will be most appreciated by true golfers who grew up with it and is in thier blood. Probably not so much by casual younger fans.

Story
Thumbing across the scorched West Texas desert, loner Jack Reacher has nowhere to go and all the time in the world to get there. Cruising the same stretch of two-lane blacktop is pretty Carmen Greer. But for Reacher, the lift comes with a hitch. Carmen's got a story to tell, and it's a wild one. All about her husband, her family secrets, and a hometown that's pure Gothic. She's also got a plan. Jack Reacher's part of it. And before the sun sets, this ride could cost them both their lives.

As always with the Reacher series; a very entertaining story. I found with this narrator it was much better when I sped the narration rate up to 1.25X.
