What not to do as a parent
Reviewed: 10-22-09
I read "Half Broke Horses" first which I highly recomment to other readers even though it was written after this book. It will give you more insight into the two parents of this book and the family history. I like the way the author tells her story without imparting a judgemental tone to the book. The children did what they needed to do to survive and the matter of fact way of telling the story helped it to move along. Much like "Half Broke Horses". It did drag a bit in the middle but I liked it enough to finish the book.

Overall enjoyable

The book was for the most part enjoyable, although somewhat predictable and the ending was a little too convenient. Yet I found it mostly entertaining in spite of this, and the idea of a traveling funeral really appealed to me. I am making plans now for my own travelling funeral.
