Story
How did Hawaii become part of America? This story, inspired by true events suppressed for nearly 100 years, is the one James Michener never wrote. In 1886, Laura Jennings travels to Hawaii to live with missionary relatives. She imagines she’ll live in a grass hut, ministering to uncivilized locals. When she arrives in Honolulu, she’s surprised to find her relatives are among the wealthy elite plotting to overthrow the Hawaiian monarchy. And the Hawaiians have developed a charming and prosperous Victorian kingdom.

Loved the story but…
Reviewed: 10-05-22
Loved the story, however, the narrator had weird pauses, was clearly fighting a cold, and had edits plugged in at obviously too loud of a volume than the rest of the narration. All in all it was good. However, it was painful for me to get through because of the narrator.

Hanna Slivka is on the cusp of 14 when Hitler's army crosses the border into Soviet-occupied Ukraine. Soon, the Gestapo closes in, determined to make the shtetele she lives in "free of Jews". Until the German occupation, Hanna spent her time exploring Kwasova with her younger siblings, admiring the drawings of the handsome Leon Stadnick, and helping her neighbor dye decorative eggs. But now she, Leon, and their families are forced to flee and hide in the forest outside their shtetele—and then in the dark caves beneath the rolling meadows, rumored to harbor evil spirits.

Story
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

The story is pretty good. And I will continue listening to the series. But I almost quit. The narrator is very choppy with his speech. The screams are way too loud and cheesy, the gun shots don’t sound like guns, etc etc.

Listening to this podcast makes me wish I was born in the times of Abraham Lincoln. To see and experience that history and the inspiration. But only slightly. As a mixed woman, my mom black and my dad white, my life would have been a terror. So I’m happy I got to listen to this podcast and appreciate the quality and production.

The Dougherty Gang is the true story of three siblings in their 20s - two brothers and a sister - who went on an eight-day, fifteen-state, AK-47-wielding, bank robbing journey in 2011. It's a remarkable account that delves into the details of the complex circumstances that kicked off this crime spree, how they averted local, state and federal agents along the way and how they're doing now in prison.

I liked how unique and funny this zombie series is. The narrator does a great job with the story telling and voices. Not cheesy or cringe worthy. I’d recommend the whole series. I already bought it I liked it so much.
Very graphic with lots of cussing so if you get offended by that, don’t bother starting. Think The Walking Dead only 10xs better.
