Story
On winter solstice, the birds disappeared, and the mist arrived. The inhabitants of Nebulah quickly learn not to venture out after dark. But it is hard to stay indoors: Cabin fever sets in, and the mist can be beguiling too. Eventually only six remain. Like the rest of the townspeople, Pete has nowhere else to go. After he rescues a stranded psychic from a terrible fate, he’s given a warning: He will be dead by solstice unless he leaves town - soon.

Loved It

I was hooked from the beginning. The Marlton was great, characters were well developed and the main character was interesting. It's mysterious and ambiguous so obviously it won't appeal to everyone but I found gripping and couldn't stop listening.

Story
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

I just didn't like it

I didn't enjoy the reading by the narrator, nor could I get into the story enough to develop a liking of the characters.

Story
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Mostly Fair

I have issue with her stance on fatherless black families and the left targeting black women to have more children without fathers. In the same chapter she complains about Planned Parenthood target abortions toward black women and the welfare system encouraging black women to have kids without present fathers. She gives many detailed statistics for both sides of most of the issues except when it comes to abortions. In that case, I only heard how many black women had abortions with no counter of how many white women did. I would classify her as another politician but a step up because she's intelligent and a good researcher and aside from her religious beliefs she mostly stands on facts.

Truly Enjoyable

I think I liked this book most of all because there wasn't the typical worst of society angle playing in it. I found it very interesting, hearing ways of survival amid day to day living after an apocalypse that doesn't involve evil sub-human gangs who torture and kill for pleasure. It was a very good listen.

Story
Cal Claxton is determined to reinvent himself as a small-town lawyer in the aftermath of his wife's suicide. Once a hard-charging Los Angeles prosecutor, he now lives in solitude in an old farmhouse overlooking Oregon's wine country. When a scruffy, tattooed kid shows up asking for help in solving a cold case - that of his mother's murder - Cal wants to say no. Times are tough, and he's no private eye, anyway. But the kid, who calls himself Picasso, has ridden a bicycle in the rain all the way from Portland, and something about his determination touches Cal.

For the first time, he describes his heartbreak and years of struggle in the wake of their deaths.
