Story
For four aging men in the terror-stricken town of Milburn, New York, an act inadvertently carried out in their youth has come back to haunt them. Now they are about to learn what happens to those who believe they can bury the past - and get away with murder. Peter Straub's classic best seller is a work of "superb horror" ( Washington Post Book World) that, like any good ghost story, stands the test of time - and conjures our darkest fears and nightmares.

Overall an entertaining story. I feel there was too much background and narrative shifting in the beginning. Took longer than expected to find the rhythm of the story.
Once it catches its stride, it is entertaining and very well read.

Overall, the storyline was engaging. The author did a good job of keeping the narrative flowing.
The performance was decent. Probably 3.5 stars.
If you are expecting a deep psychological horror story, this is not for you. If, on the other hand, you enjoy Southern Gothic tales, this one is a great example.

Story
A dark and sweeping adventure, Dreamcatcher is set in the haunted city of Derry - the site of Stephen King's It and Insomnia. In it, four young boys stand together and do a brave, good thing, an act that changes them in ways that they hardly understand. A quarter-century later, as grown men who have gone their separate ways, these friends come together once a year to hunt in the woods of Maine.

Entertaining but not amazing
Reviewed: 03-16-19
Stephen King never fails to entertain us. His stories and characters are always vibrant and engrossing.
This is a good story but not on the same level as Bag of Bones or The Stand.
The performance was good. My only negative comment is that the friends all sounded very similar and it took quite a while to distinguish the nuances. The true difference was in their speech patterns and not the tone.
Get this book, you'll not be disappointed.

Imajica is an epic beyond compare: vast in conception, obsessively detailed in execution, and apocalyptic in its resolution. At its heart lies the sensualist and master art forger Gentle, whose life unravels when he encounters Judith Odell, whose power to influence the destinies of men is vaster than she knows, and Pie "oh" pah, an alien assassin who comes from a hidden dimension.

The story was entertaining and had some unexpected twists. I liked the world created and would love to see this book made into a great movie.
The performance was good. I went between the 5-star and 4-star. Ultimately, I settled on 4 due to the slightly distracting way the "said" lines dropped in tone.

This was a nice stroll through a dark story. When this was written, Stephen King was not yet the master he is now. still, it holds up and if you are a true fan, you can see hints of what is to come in King's Universe.
The performance is top-notch! Great emotion and inflection throughout. keeps you interested no matter what the subject may be.
If you, like myself, haven't read this sine you were a kid, I suggest you give it a try.

Story
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.
