This book offers good insight into the struggle of immigrant families. The perspectives are eye-opening, from how it feels to be unseen and at the bottom of society, to the never-ending love of family, no matter the distance or the time. I really felt for all the members of this family.

Abraham Verghese's storytelling is captivating. As I listened to him read his story, I felt like I was there with his characters, watching and hearing everything first hand. His use of appropriate accents for his characters added to the realism.

There are so many joys and so many tragedies in these lives. I felt the true roller coaster of life. Honestly, I wondered how these characters could continue with such positivity with everything they have undergone.

Even though this is a work of fiction, I learned much about India's history. I didn't know about India's WWII involvement, nor about the Naxalites. Dr Verghese's detailed medical descriptions were fascinating (not all for the faint of heart). He weaves his extensive research and knowledge of many subjects artfully throughout the story, putting time and place into perspective, adding to its realism.

I'm guessing reading this book would be a very different experience from listening to it. He reads it marvelously. I highly recommend listening to this book.

What a delightful story. The narrator Nigel Davenport does a great job bringing the characters to life. I felt like I knew each one. Some stories made me LOL. I was sad when it was over.

Fascinating details from inside the capital on Jan 6, 2021 and the resulting legal arguments about the impeachment hearing. Jamie lovingly and thoughtfully weaves this story around the death of his son and the influence his son continues to have in his day-to-day life.

Intrigue for cycling enthusiasts. You're not only in the pelotón but also in the mind of a racer. Interesting insight even though it's a novel.

Yo-Yo Ma intersperses his beautiful music with his story. He expresses his desire to make the world a better place, as we all do. A good "read."
