I identified with this book and the author so much. I grew up a mixed Korean, Hawaiian and white girl in New York in the 80's. I knew I belonged in Hawaii with our ohana but my mother never moved us home after divorcing my father. I always longed for mixed friends, ostracized girls like me who understood and lived a strict Asian upbringing but didn't look quite any part and always had to answer racist and judgemental questions about my mixed heritage. When I was little I wanted to be white too, like the blonde daughters of the white women my dad cheated on my mom with. Now grown, I consider myself to be an "adult child" of dysfunction, and after many years of trauma therapy and healing journeys, I still identify most with other hapa-haole but have learned to let my soul touch other's without regard for their culture. I later moved to be my mother's caregiver when she got ill. I was resentful at the time but have come to respect the honor it was to share those last years with the difficult woman who made me and knew me and loved me more clearly than anyone else, and to be with her when she passed away. Michelle thank you for writing this book, This book is a love letter to all Asian American mother's and daughters everywhere. Mahalo, sister!

You have to pay attention carefully otherwise you'll lose the thread of myriad details. It's an awesome book and I love Rodeo and his dog. He deserves happiness and I hope there is another book about him after this. Great author!

I loved this book! My favorite parts were all the ones that had Einstein in it! And the ending just blew me away. I didn't guess the ending at all! Thank you Mr. Koontz for such an amazing and touching and heartwarming book. I'm going to get a Golden Retriever someday!

but the ending was a bit of a let down. I loved the plot twist but would have wanted more detail and clarification about the time line jumping from past to present, and also Theo's pathology.

It wasn't until I listened to the Codas at the end of the book that I was attached emotionally to the characters. I'm going to have to re-listen to the whole entire book now. I'm crying because Coda 3 was so beautiful and made so much sense and wrapped everything up so perfectly. Great book, definitely worthy of a second listen.

I loved it, totally enjoyed it. I got attached. I laughed. The only part I didn't enjoy was that the conversations and personality quirks of the characters were all very similar to each other. They had different roles and names and character types, but other than that they were all fairly identical. Especially the way they spoke. The cadence, or rhythm, opinions, the way they responded and thought, was all the same. It was not easy to tell the difference between characters despite being played by different narrators because they all spoke so similarly to one another. Other than that it was great.
