Story
This sprawling and often brutal novel, set in the rich farmlands of California's Salinas Valley, follows the intertwined destinies of two families - the Trasks and the Hamiltons - whose generations helplessly reenact the fall of Adam and Eve and the poisonous rivalry of Cain and Abel.

John Steinbeck is an amazing author, and with Richard Poe's seamless performance, this was one of the best audio books I have listen to. A must read for folks who live in Central California!

Story
After her father's death in a plane crash, Miranda Woodward's life begins to unravel. On her 16th birthday, Miranda receives a mysterious gift: a small wooden box containing a needle and spool of gossamer golden thread, left behind by her father, which begins a chain of events that soon leave her life in chaos. Her pet cat is replaced with another, her teachers don’t have her on their roll call at school, even her closest friends forget who she is. When her mother vanishes into thin air, Miranda becomes desperate for answers.

Ranks in my top 2 worst audible books!

The story plot is good enough with a common plot cliché that I did expect. Joanna's writing is sophomoric at best, with the constant, "he said, she said". The 16 year old protagonist, acting like she is a clueless 7 year old, is somewhat annoying. The narrator is defiantly a name I will look for and avoid at all costs. Amie's sing song accent and character interpretations are some of the most discommoding and obnoxious narration I have listen to. Over all this story is absurd, simply for the sake of trying to have originality.
