Story
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Good concept but the packaging was terrible
Reviewed: 05-01-25
The idea behind the story was really good why the delivery was terrible. It's so incredibly boring and the characters seem to just not really be intertwined but rather OK now here's the story OK now here's that story. lots of polishing would make this terrific

Story
Meet Jessica Jones: retired superhero, private investigator, loner. She tried her best to be a shiny spandex crimefighter, but that life only led to unspeakable trauma. Now she avoids that world altogether and works on surviving day-to-day in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. The morning a distraught mother comes into her office, Jessica would prefer to nurse her hangover and try to forget last night’s poor choices. But something about Amber Randall’s story strikes a chord with her. Amber is adamant that something happened to her teenage twins while they were visiting their father in the UK.

horrid
Reviewed: 02-17-25
I purchased this one because I enjoyed this author's other books. This one was absolutely horrible. It was completely different genre and clearly aimed at 13 and 14-year-olds that love the vampire series love books. horrid story, with lots of useless conversations between the superhero and her therapist, and the story itself could be encompassed in one hour with a whole lot of fluff around it. I knew shortly into it I did not want to suffer through this but it wasn't allowed to return the title so try to make the best of it and it never got better

Not the author's usual quality of work
Reviewed: 11-25-24
I have loved multiple books by disaster. Engaging good storyline but I don't get the point of this book at all. I think you were dropped in the middle of somebody's humdrum life and made to listen about it not knowing why you're even here or what's the point of their day. This was a complete waste of money

It's like a French movie
Reviewed: 11-25-24
do you know how a French movie is engaging but doesn't really make you think or not really a surprise twist; rather it's just kind of a story of here's what happened and then here's what happened. That was this book. Engaging enough to listen to the whole thing but really just a diatribe of here is life.

Story
On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died. Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows.

good story, bit the hideous male performance
Reviewed: 10-17-24
The book was pretty interesting, and developed the story and characters pretty well but OMG the performance by a male narrator was horrific. He apparently thinks he's doing a commercial for Darth Vader in a black hole while funneling his inner James Earl Jones but the story doesn't call for that voice and the voice is not very good. I don't understand why you didn't just let the female do the whole book without somebody who just read like he was insufferable

Terry Goodkind fans will enjoy
Reviewed: 09-22-24
enjoyed the story but in typical Terry Goodkind fashion, there was a whole lot of useless dialogue that was used for the purpose of social commentary. With the commentary going on and on and on. That said, it was a good story that I enjoyed and even learned a bit about the dark web and some self defense skills. It's worth spending a credit on for sure

thankfully this book was free because it was just not very good. The story did not come together well at all, the dialogue was silly, the characters were not developed and really seem like a first try by someone. If it was their first try I'd give it a thumbs up for encouragement not for quality
