Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Absolutely loved this. I was hooked from start to finish. Andy Weir is one of a kind. Especially enjoyable for someone in science and engineering, but I think anyone could appreciate it

Loved the characters and story, family interactions were some of the best parts. Lighthearted but serious at times. The narrator was fantastic - the type who makes the story better

Story
The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

Story
A mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video-game industry. In 1990, Nintendo had a virtual monopoly on the video-game industry. Sega, on the other hand, was just a faltering arcade company with big aspirations and even bigger personalities. But all that would change with the arrival of Tom Kalinske, a former Mattel executive who knew nothing about video games and everything about fighting uphill battles.

A lot of very in-depth detail about the console wars. The book still managed to be enjoyable, despite being more of a history. I admit I was a little annoyed by some of the “playful banter” conversations that were probably mostly fictional. I mean, who remembers a conversation from 25+ years ago? But I get they had to try to make it interesting.

It isn't easy, being a teenage pharaoh. You're not allowed to carry money, uninhibited young women peel your grapes for you, everyone thinks you're responsible for making the sun rise and the corn grow, you keep dreaming about seven thin cows and seven fat cows (one of them playing the trombone), and on top of everything else, the Great Pyramid has just exploded because of paracosmic instability.

This is one of the most funny books I’ve read by Pratchett. (I’ve read/listened to 25 or so). Once again Nigel Planer nails the narration. The ending could have been better, but overall very enjoyable.

Story
Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

Good voice acting but mediocre story
Reviewed: 09-21-19
I can't complain about the acting, it was good, and the only bad parts were the fault of the writing. Sections of the book seemed like it was written by a different person. A few lines were pretty cringeworthy. I'll try not to spoil anything, but one character would be fighting another character and explain exactly what she was about to while making some attempt at a witty pun. It just didn't work, it reminded me of dumb action movies... There were also sections where someone would be explaining something and the person listening would repeat every fourth or fifth word, which just sounded awkward. But a few parts seemed well written. Another note, this book was pretty intense on descriptions of mentally unstable and evil people doing evil things. If that's not your kind of story, steer clear.
Okay, now some spoilers, so don't read if you haven't read the book.
You're supposed to feel pity and understanding for the Bride, which you do to a certain extent. She even said that she let some young pervert men go without killing them... right after killing one of the only decent people in the book (Tom Cully or however you spell it). And after a brief moment of sorrow the protagonist seemed to sympathize with the Bride. Just kinda irritating.
