The world around the main characters felt unfinished, there could be more there. The story was easy to follow and relatively fast paced. A quick read.

Story
The Mohawk phrase for depression can be roughly translated as a mind spread out on the ground. In this urgent, visceral work, Alicia Elliott explores how apt a description that is for the ongoing effects of the personal, intergenerational, and colonial traumas experienced by her so many Native people. Elliott's deeply personal writing details a life spent between Indigenous and White communities - a divide reflected in her own family - and engages with such wide-ranging topics as race, parenthood, love, art, mental illness, poverty, sexual assault, gentrification, and representation.

Story
Lazarus Cain is a member of the Grim Shadows, one of the Thieves Guilds in the city of Eberia. Unfortunately, Lazarus is having a bad day. Waking up in a torture chamber, suffering from amnesia, he'd be pretty much screwed if not for the mysterious, magical sigil burned into his chest. Sometimes a really bad day should be shared with others, especially professional torturers.

The second captivating installment of Aleron Kong's Chaos Seeds series. "We are life takers and heartbreakers," Richter shouted. "Let's go!" Richter and Sion are at it again! Even more of what you loved in the first book. Leveling, world building, awesome items, and what's that you say? Sure! Why not? What's a little necrophilia between friends? Join your favorite Chaos Seed as he answers the call of adventure and deals with the invaders, greedy dwarves, and a wood elf that keeps telling him he has a pretty mouth. Welcome back, my friends! Welcome back...to The Land.

If you could sum up The Land: Forging in three words, what would they be?
Entertaining, Captivating, Adventurous
What did you like best about this story?
Easy to follow - I am not a video gamer nor an RPG aficionado, but I greatly enjoyed this story.
Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene was probably the skeleton fight, not going into more detail than that, but VERY entertaining and suspenseful. FML!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Sion (Sp?) became Ricktor's (sp?) companion.
Any additional comments?
A longtime book reader; in particular fantasy or historical fiction, this book ticks all of the boxes for me. Suggested by my brother to check out, we finally have a book series we both enjoy in common. Picture a 2018 human plunked down into LOTR or GoT and trying to figure out their life, but with more magic, cheat codes and modern humor. Looking forward to the next installment. Highly recommend the audio book! It adds more drama to the read and more fun to the stats/item inventory updates. As someone who is not a video game person, I really enjoyed the story and narration.
