Story
In Sweden there is a kind of decluttering called döstädning, dö meaning "death" and städning meaning "cleaning." This surprising and invigorating process of clearing out unnecessary belongings can be undertaken at any age or life stage but should be done sooner rather than later, before others have to do it for you. In The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, artist Margareta Magnusson, with Scandinavian humor and wisdom, instructs listeners to embrace minimalism.

Semblance! Does anyone have a count?

I have been a fan of The Day series for a while. This book changed that. The reader really overindulged the part of General Lawrence to the point of it being annoying. JOHN! Jaaahn! John.
And seriously are there no synonyms for the word semblance? I very well could be the only person annoyed by this.

Story
Newlywed Jade Westmore has finally found her forever in husband Wells, a charming, successful, and recently divorced architect—only there’s one caveat: behind the gates of their elysian estate, hidden from street view in the caretaker’s cottage … lives Wells’s first wife, Sylvie. Three years ago, the original Mrs. Westmore suffered a nervous breakdown—and hasn’t uttered a sound since. Not a physician, psychologist, or world-renown specialist has been able to elicit so much as a word from the silent woman … until now.

The performance made this book. Christine Lakin always does a great job with narrating audiobooks.
While I was caught up in the storyline, the ending could have been much better. It fizzled out in my opinion.

Meet Harry, aspiring tech entrepreneur. He’s a would-be Steve Jobs trapped in a cubicle gig at an angel investor firm, so close and yet so far from his dreams. His marriage is foundering, his career is stalled out, and all he wants is to create an app like Uber, or Tinder, something to make real change in the world, and change his own life forever. Now meet Peter, a deeply troubled computer genius who lives in a basement apartment, chugging red wine, nursing old grudges and writing code. When Harry meets Peter, it’s both of their lives that will change, when they invent an app for murder.

As they recount the events surrounding the disappearance of their toddler—one with a tendency to bite—two parents cope with grief in vastly different ways. While the father wrestles with feelings of guilt, the mother is convinced she’s spotted the boy in frightening TV news reports...though let’s just say he looks nothing like the precocious little boy they remember from a decade ago.

Another great short from Dervla. Being a somewhat sheltered American, I sometimes find it challenging to understand the narrators accent. Story is A+ and characters are well developed for such a quick listen. I do find it a bit difficult to follow so many characters in short stories but overall recommend any of her books. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers!

Sound effects are too loud
Reviewed: 02-25-23
Happy this little short was free and that is about the only good thing. Story is science fiction but more ridiculous than the Walking Dead. I can't say enough times that the sound effects were absurdly louder than the narrators. I found myself turning the volume down as they would distort my speakers, then I could not hear the spoken words. The mixer should be fired. Ending is abrupt and dissatisfying. Thanks for the free listen.
