I am a big fan of VGO and litrpg books. I could not stop listening to this book. I am telling you I was listening to it at work, and when I got home from work doing my side hustle (Etsy stuff) and I fell asleep listening to it! I woke up and had to back track to last thing I remembered happening. I loved the adventure and getting her class sorted out. I hate osmark so we are on the same team lol! The impending doom has you worried she could be that 1/6 that die! And the fear of the baddies finding her and her npc really sets in! I am rooting for her and I hope her npc doesn’t die! He has grown on me! I’m about to start book two now lol I’m obsessseeedddds

I discovered these books by accident and I have to say I love the idea of color alchemy. I like the well thought out use of each color and combination of colors and the stone necklaces. I’m crying my eyes out right now at the end of the book. Need to listen to book 4. The narration is fantastic with different voices for different characters. Easy to listen to and well exacted.

I love all of this authors books and have bought them all. Especially the 3 that have howls moving castle characters howl and Sophie. Granted howl and Sophie only make camio appearances in this book it’s still comforting to know they live on and they are ok.
I love the little mishaps that happen frequently, having characters that are young adults are fun because they are still learning and making mistakes. The elf gift is so unique and special and I love how it’s woven into this story. I’m a huge fan, would have loved to meet the author but she has passed in 2011.

For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those who enter these mythical places of power: why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart.

I really liked the reverse way I expected this book to go. This book is about a dungeon being born, forming, and it’s life/existence. It grew from just a dungeon heart and formed rooms and then learnt how to trap and create treasure. It seemed like whatever it was introduced to it was able to reproduce. So when it’s ‘friend’ brings it back random things it’s able to make more within the dungeon. I was really into this book being backwards from what you expect and I was rooting for the dungeon not the adventureres lol.

At first I was thinking this sounded like the story of Esther in the Bible and a bit like the bachelor royal edition lol.
I liked how simple America is and how honest and open she is with the prince. I like how she is his friend and in a way being someone’s friend bonds you faster then pretend dating like this selection.
I hate Celeste and I want America to win but the love triangle makes things so complicated. I just bought book 2 and I like how it left off with the top 6 for book two.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Sorcerer's Quest to be better than the print version?
I enjoy listening to audio books because I can get other things done around the house like washing dishes and listen, do laundry.... The inflection in the narrators voice was great for all the characters and rather entertaining. It also can help when they read it a specific way and you might have read it another way.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I rather loved Ayden but also Merlin! Hard to pick between them both because it was written in a way you could believe Merlin was trapped in a box as a wolf and wolves are extinct. I loved Ayden because he's a gentle soul and he's trying to make his family proud of him by being evil but he doesn't have an evil bone in his body. I loved the descriptions of him and the blond/black hair twist!
Have you listened to any of J. Scott Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes I have and I am rather addicted to Rain's books and J. Scott Bennett's narrating now! I have snagged more books and intend to get a lot of chores done today listening to more of this narrators books. I get rather attached to narrators and some voices are easier to listen to then others.
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed the twists in this book that were unexpected such as the blond/black hair twist and also Merlin being a wolf and only Ayden can hear him. The ghosts were also rather entertaining. I really did dislike Ayden's brothers and feel like they were described rather well to have me actually dislike them for Ayden and wish he didn't have them as brothers.

Story
Aaron Hope plays video games, like a lot, just not professionally. When he entered the EpiX! Games! PVP World Championship on a lark, this college senior never expected to make it to the final round, nor to get drugged and shoved into the alpha test for World of Ruul. The premise for this virtual reality MMO is simple. Find all eight treasures scattered throughout the world before the maelstrom's forces devour everything in sight. The only catch? You can't log off, and if you die...well, let's just say what happens in the game doesn't stay in the game.

Great plot and story minus all the foul language.
Reviewed: 05-31-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No I would not. There was far to much foul language to suggest this to anyone! The plot of this book is great but why do you need to drop the f word every 5 minutes. I do get that a lot of gamers out there cuss like sailors but a lot of us game without foul language.
What could J. A. Cipriano have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The only thing he could have done to make this more enjoyable for me would be remove ALL the foul language. I could understand if there was one particularly hard mob like a boss fight where you drop one f word but every 5 minutes is driving me crazy and I just don't care for that. I love LitRPG's and I haven't had this problem with any other LitRPG's so far.
What about Nik Magill’s performance did you like?
I enjoyed his voice and inflections he made in his voice as he read. He was easy to listen to spoke clearly and was a good tone and pitch to listen to! I would listen to other books he has read no problem.
Did Soulstone: Awakening: A LitRPG Novel inspire you to do anything?
Write my own LitRPG...
Any additional comments?
I wish there was some sort of censoring done to warn people of the crass/foul language in some of these books! Not suitable for work or something!

You'd refuse point blank, wouldn't you? But what if the job in question was playing a state-of-the-art fantasy MMORPG game? And what if this was the only thing you're really good at? Story
Armon Ellington is 19 year old kid that always felt out of place. He's an orphan, a gamer, and a role playing game geek. When he dies after a 72 hour gaming marathon, instead of going to an afterlife he's transported to a new world governed by rules that are eerily similar to the RPG games he loves. On this new world, Terra, he can be anything he wants, a warrior, mage, or even a crafter. Only, Armon wants more than that, he also wants friends and family.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book

What did you love best about Beginnings?
I loved how this was a new approach to the LitRPG type books. I feel like the author is not just writing a book to sell books but is like us who also enjoys LitRPG's and maybe even anime. I did sense a little bit of SAO in here but was different enough to not be the same. I liked the descriptions of how weapons were made, and skills were acquired. I am itching for book 2 to come out I need to know what happens! I hope book 2 is longer, I like longer audio books.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Beginnings?
When Armon decides to ask the kbolds how he can help them instead of killing them. Anyone who plays MMORPG's would just run up and kill them, but he decided to ask them what he could do to help them.
What does Jill Smith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I enjoyed her voice so much, was a little odd having a female read a male lead characters voice but she was so easy to listen to and dive into the story. Sometimes you have issues connecting to a story or you listen and don't sink in but not with her you are pulled in to the story like you are now also in the game.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
nooooo way! I listened to this over a few days. I might have to go re listen to it. I sometimes will listen to an audio book when I am getting ready for work, or taking a bubble bath and even drifting off to sleep and sometimes I miss a few things.
