Story
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

Courage to Stand Against Wrong
Reviewed: 11-23-24
We’re often overlooked when others sees us weak.
It takes strength, courage and determination to see right from wrong and willingly take a stand against evil-with her own life at risk with the Nazi’s trying to exterminate her people, this young lady puts her talents at work to help fight for what is right, learning a way to hide the true identity of Polish Jews in plain sight from the Germans so set on destroying not just any family but those of Jewish decent.
Courage, strength, determination, and like-minded people who knows that to do nothing when wrong is being done to hurt innocent people is just the same thing as supporting oppression by simply looking the other way.
This young lady works with the Resistance team helping hundreds of children get to safety during this ugly war- and despite the danger to self and various challenges two people manages to find love.
Book is well written - a real page turner; the storyline holds true to very similar historical events.
I’ll also say the chosen narrator of the audible version did an outstanding job keeping the listener engaged.
I was kept glued to the edge of my seat hoping she didn’t get caught, I felt anxious when her father was captured by the Germans, and rejoiced when the children escaped to safety; sadden to learn her mother died after being betrayed by the egotistical childhood friend- and elated at the end when the two lost lovers were finally reunited after decades apart.
Through it all- we MUST never forget the wrong done to millions of people around the world. Let’s stand against evil everyday for everyone - not just a specific class or race or religion.
Hate what is evil- love what is good and right for all.
Thank you for this book - let’s never forget!

I like how write seamlessly wove between time periods to full reveal at the end how who the culprit was.

Intense

Intense storyline with predictable plots but very accurate in that line of work. Only wish the author didn’t feel the need to be so brash and harsh with the sex language. The criminal element was enough.
Reader not so interesting. Made it difficult to continue listening.

Quinn recognized Francesca Maroun as his soulmate the moment he met her in grad school. Of course he did. The Merriams always recognize their soulmates instantly. It just never occurred to him that world events could drive them apart so they wouldn't end up together. Knowing there was no one else for him, Quinn devoted himself to the family business instead. Since he’s taken the reins of the troubled company, he doesn't have the time to dwell on Francesca - much.

Long time narrator of Ms Ava Miles books, Em Eldridge was truly missed on this book.
I’ll admit that it was somewhat difficult to fully enjoy and follow along this audio version as I’ve gotten used to the characters under voice of Em Eldridge.
I hope she’s available to return and once again be your narrator.
That aside- this is another outstanding work by Ava Miles where she continues to captivate her audience.
this book brings the Merriam family full circle allowing her characters to remain true even as they face difficult circumstances.

Predictable
Reviewed: 09-18-21
Storyline although good all your endings are becoming too predictable. Too bad you often times go into all the intimate details of all your characters. Seems like you run out of details to put into your writings when you go off on this erotic tangents. You take away from the greatness of your book.
Again - all your endings of your series have become so predictable that I no longer bother.
Sorry. For you’re an outstanding author.
