Such a happy book
Reviewed: 03-11-20
This was not the first time I’ve listened to this book or even the second. This is one where you get lost in the happiness and want it to never end. The narration was impeccable as it always is with Michael Lesley. There is nothing that could’ve improved this listen and I already look forward to the next time I listen to it.

Story
After being dumped by his long-term boyfriend for being overweight, Henry Beckett decides to make some drastic changes. Reed Henske is a personal trainer who isn't sure he'll ever be ready to date again. He's sick of guys who are only interested in the perfect body image, never seeing him for who he really is. As Reed tortures Henry with things like diet and exercise, Henry enamors Reed with recipes and laughter.

Story
Do you believe in love at first sight? Paul Auster doesn't. Paul doesn't believe in much at all. He's thirty, slightly overweight, and his best features are his acerbic wit and the color commentary he provides as life passes him by. His closest friends are a two-legged dog named Wheels and a quasibipolar drag queen named Helena Handbasket. He works a dead-end job in a soul-sucking cubicle, and if his grandmother's homophobic parrot insults him one more time, Paul is going to wring its stupid neck.

Sam of Wilds faced the Dark wizard Myrin and lived to tell the tale. Granted, the battle left him scarred, but things could be a hell of a lot worse. It’s not until he reunites with Morgan of Shadows and Randall that he realizes just how much worse things could be. Because the scars have meaning and hint at Myrin’s true plans for Sam and the Kingdom of Verania. With time running out, Sam and his band of merry misfits must travel to the snowy mountains in the North and the heart of the Dark Woods to convince the remaining dragons to stand against Myrin.

This is the second in the series and I liked it much better than the first. The first was good but had to have a lot of explanation. This one was able to have more story. As always the great Joel Leslie did a fantastic narration. I’m such a fan girl of his and chose this series originally because he was the narrator.

I started listening to this series because it was narrated by Joel Leslie and I will ALWAYS listen to something by him but I fell in love with this story as well. While the first one of the series was fantastic, this book really struck a cord with me and I just loved it. A middle of a series book is often the one that can lag a bit but this held me to the end. And, of course the narration was impeccable. I mean, how does one person do all that?! Now... off to the third book...

Twelve months after his change, Alec MacAidan is still getting used to his many vampire talents. While most vampires would give anything to have more than one supernatural power, Alec craves nothing more than peace and time alone with Cronin. But when Alec meets entities from outside this realm, he's left powerless in their presence. Zoan are half-lycan, half-dragon creatures that have slipped through time and reality, seemingly undetected by man and vampire. Or have they?
