Good, Kinda Like a later Rocky Sequel!

I feel like the original You Are a Badass was both her magnum opus and perhaps immortal work. Her follow up You Are a Badass at Making Money was a worthy companion. However, the books since just haven’t had the same integrity or feel to me - I mean she still makes me laugh, the principles are tried and true, but the passion and excitement seems to be dying a bit in her later works. I love Jen as a human and her writing is beautiful, edgy, sharp, and always on point, but something seems off - kinda like Rocky when he loses his hunger to fight in Part 2, or was that 3? Of course, I understand it’s hard to keep making #1 hits. Anyways, I hope you get the idea. Sorry, I still Iove you, Jen!

At first, with such a simple title, I thought it might be too simplistic. However, the book did an incredible job of showing how less is not only more, but EVERYTHING! I also liked how it added nice acoustic guitar riffs in between chapters.

I know you aren't supposed to use bland adverbs in writing, but I really, really liked this book. It made me laugh at times, even the Seinfeld reference towards the end. It challenged my thinking in ways that will definitely require further referencing in the future. From pretending the power goes out to save children from seeing well, a band with the same name as fill in the blank ___ on an internet search to creating a "Failure Resume", this book runs the gamet on what it truly means to be innovative. The ending thoughts on the importance of taking care of yourself were also very beneficial (but there I go with more bland aderbs again). Check it out, it's definitely a book to chew on a while, just maybe not with shrimp - Lol.

A couple of years ago, I believe, this book was recommended to me. I was reading other things at the time, but I wish I had read this instead. It is almost worth the cost of tuition for teacher training in college. So many good ideas and beyond relavant to the current world of education. It is also a great book for the teacher on the verge of giving up. The title itself should be everyone's philosophy of education.

The Total Money Makeover Audiobook By Dave Ramsey cover art

I spent serious years in my life pursuing financial freedom, but everyone I was following at the time encouraged making money at the cost and even encouragement of going into debt. This was the first time somebody opened my eyes to both the myths of debt as well as its spiritual convictions and consequences. I hope to apply the baby steps presented here into my daily life. My only regret is that I wish I had come across this wisdom years before. I have already been making drastic changes in my spending habits after starting this book. I highly recommend it to those that are ready to endure the painful process of cutting unnecessary excesses in their financial lives with "gazelle intensity", and see it as a marathon, not a sprint.

Although the music in between chapter nuggets and thoughts was a bit cheesy, I didn’t mind it. I loved listening to this while out walking or running. I continue to find Robbins inspiring, pushing me not to settle. These are sort of like little daily devotionals that you can chew on a little each day. I find myself thinking about the concepts presented here often as I go about my daily life. Truly good stuff!

Everything was incredible, as usual. I don't know what else to say other than Tony really has it figured out. He lays it out eloquently with humor and grace as to what it takes to go to the next level. I don't think I've read or heard a single seminar by him that I haven't liked, and I'm still wanting to walk across the coals!

I loved everything about it. The only criticism would be that sometimes the speaker makes slightly long awkward silences, yet it was also a live performance. A couple things you will long remember after reading this are, "Some doooo, and some dooonnn't" as well as, "You messed up!" I can definitely tell why Tony Robbins was influenced by the author. Great advice, and good listening while out for a walk.

There is no doubt that the ideas in this book are the principles schools should be based upon. Sometimes deep down one knows what they should be doing, but are afraid to put it into action. The author is definitely fearless, relentless, and a game changer. It did read a little like more of an autobiography than a reference for educational leadership; however, excellent wisdom and advice is given throughout such as it being okay to "Love" your students. It was also inspiring to see what the writer had accomplished and is still doing to achieve success even in underachieving schools.

There is some sound advice here, but at times it sounds a bit "info-mercial" like. It's almost like it has little commercial breaks between chapters. However, the keys to positive discipline are "doctrinally sound".
