About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Jen Sincero gets to the core of transformation: habits - breaking, making, understanding, and sticking with them like you've never stuck before.

Badass Habits is a eureka-sparking, easy-to-digest look at how our habits make us who we are, from the measly moments that happen in private to the resolutions we loudly broadcast (and, erm, often don't keep) on social media.

Habit busting and building goes way beyond becoming a dedicated flosser or never showing up late again - our habits reveal our unmet desires, the gaps in our boundaries, our level of self-awareness, and our unconscious beliefs and fears. Badass Habits features Jen's trademark hilarious voice and offers a much-needed fresh take on the conventional wisdom and science that shape the optimism (or pessimism?) around the age-old topic of habits.

The book includes enlightening interviews with people who've successfully strengthened their discipline backbones, new perspective on how to train our brains to become our best selves, and offers a simple, 21-day, step-by-step guide for ditching habits that don't serve us and developing the habits we deem most important.

Habits shouldn't be impossible to reset - and with healthy boundaries, knowledge of - and permission to go after - our desires, and an easy to implement plan of action, we can make any new goal a joyful habit.

Critic reviews

“Sincero brings a fun, feminine verve to now well-tread self-help tropes… The tone is far more feisty than academic, and there's humor on every page, all of which is exactly what her intended audience most needs."
Publishers Weekly

"Sincero writes in a conversational, witty tone that actually makes self-improvement sound fun."

I feel like the original You Are a Badass was both her magnum opus and perhaps immortal work. Her follow up You Are a Badass at Making Money was a worthy companion. However, the books since just haven’t had the same integrity or feel to me - I mean she still makes me laugh, the principles are tried and true, but the passion and excitement seems to be dying a bit in her later works. I love Jen as a human and her writing is beautiful, edgy, sharp, and always on point, but something seems off - kinda like Rocky when he loses his hunger to fight in Part 2, or was that 3? Of course, I understand it’s hard to keep making #1 hits. Anyways, I hope you get the idea. Sorry, I still Iove you, Jen!

Good, Kinda Like a later Rocky Sequel!

I’ve listened to this book a few times now. It’s a great one to have running in the back while you work to program some new healthy thought habits in your brain. I’ve read her others & enjoyed this one as well!

I wanted a book on habit from a woman’s perspective on habit and that’s what I got. Men and women will both benefit but just be aware that some material will apply to men either differently or less.

Geared more towards women but still useful

On my journey to self love and mindfulness and overall self development she provides some good tools to put in my tool box to help me stay on track. After listening to this book makes me want to check out previous books by authors. I will be using some of her suggestions. Starts slow but improves as you continue.I would recommend.
