But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare: an encounter with the Red Scarf Killer, who shot and killed Fiona’s cop fiancé and his K-9 partner.

The love interest is very difficult to like. In fact, I couldn’t do it. I found myself waiting for the romance sections to finish just so we could get to the mystery.

Tatiana brings something to the table
Reviewed: 05-25-19
I haven’t read these books since they first came out but being a big fan of Orphan Black I decided to pick this one up. Tatiana Maslany brings a lot to the table here. It seems she’s talented in pretty much every way.
Something that bothered me about both the movie and the original audiobook (after reading the paperback) is that I felt as though Katniss was far too peppy and happy for somebody who’s gone through so much and worked so hard to survive. Tatiana brings some realism. They were scenes in this that affected me previously which had me in absolute tears this time. Worth a listen!

When people told me this was the best book of the year I was skeptical. It absolutely is. The build up is amazing, the ending is amazing. I can’t wait until I read it again.

Top neurosurgeon Samantha Thomson needs to get married fast and is tightlipped as to why. And with over $200,000 on offer to tie the knot, no questions asked, cash-strapped ER nurse Hayden Perez isn't about to demand answers. The deal is only for a year of marriage, but Hayden's going into it knowing it will be a nightmare. Sam is complicated, rude, kind of cold, and someone Hayden barely tolerates at work, let alone wants to marry. The hardest part is that Hayden has to convince everyone around them that they're madly in love and that racing down the aisle is all they've ever wanted.

I got completely lost in this story. I fell madly in love with Sam.
My only complaint is that I wasn’t overly fond of the narrator. Her voice was somewhat drab and she was very bad at accents.
But I loved the story so much that it didn’t matter as much as it normally would have.

Story
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Story
A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets 16-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The story was a good one for a young adult book. It was enjoyable, and kept me interested but the narration was horrible. I love audiobooks and listen to them constantly but I can't think of a single book narrated worse. He's simply very bad at accents, and at different characterization. Miss Peregrine (in my opinion) is the worse. She kind of sounds like a nutty old lady.
The story is good, I recommend it, but perhaps read the paperback.
