Something must be missing beyond a fine delivery for this book to be an hour shorter than other renditions, even though it is not listed as abridged. Find a different audiobook of this charming story.

Story
Amazing Grace tells the story of the remarkable life of the British abolitionist William Wilberforce (1759-1833). This accessible biography chronicles Wilberforce's extraordinary role as a human rights activist, cultural reformer, and member of Parliament. At the center of this heroic life was a passionate 20-year fight to abolish the British slave trade, a battle Wilberforce won in 1807, as well as efforts to abolish slavery itself in the British colonies.

Story
Legend has it that when the Gabriel Hounds run howling over the crumbling palace of Dar Ibrahim, high in the Adonis Valley of Lebanon, death will follow on their heels. When rich, spoilt Christie Mansel arrives at the decaying palace to look after her eccentric Aunt Harriet, she arrives to the sound of howling dogs. The palace is riddled with hidden passages and the servants are unwilling to let anyone see Harriet during the day. It seems the palace hides an extraordinary secret...one that somebody is willing to kill to keep.

Flawless performance of a Mary Stewart treasure

So glad I own this so I can listen again and again. It's the original British version not sold in States, so I found it interesting to note what had been changed. Fell in love with it more than 50 years ago; so great to read it in the Age of Google, which allowed me to look up details that add much to the story. Ellie Haydon has the perfect voice for Stewart's heroines, who narrate their own stories. Her male voices are varied, convincing, and charming, too. One of my favorite narrators. If I penned a British story, I'd seek her out to narrate.

Story
There are few characters in literature more iconic than J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up. Originally introduced in 1902 in another Barrie novel (The Little White Bird), Peter's story was expanded as a standalone novel in 1911 and since then has been memorably adapted for the movies, for television, and for stage.
Now, actress Lily Collins (The Blind Side, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) brings new, youthful energy to Peter's magical adventures.

had to stop when kids refused to go to police
Reviewed: 09-25-20
I adore Dave Barry. Adore. So the tone and humor of this book charmed me. But the longer the kids did not go the police increased my frustration to the point I had to skip to the end. Much prefer movie of "Emil and the Detectives" where boys this age figure out their moral obligation go to the police, even when they're not believed the first time. I would not hand this book to a child.
